THP Live Round thread!

#17 Par 4 (384yds) image.jpg
Drive finds the left rough leaving 177yds to a deep pin. Green has water left and bunkers from left and right. On leaving 30 ft for birdie. Putt stops 2ft short for tap in par. +2

#18 Par 5 (573yds) and a beast 3 shot hole no matter how long you are.
image.jpgAnother drive finds the fairway (a bomb) and still 333 yds into the wind. Can’t believe @JB got me to shelf my Bridgestone driver, but I think I found another love relationship with the M6 w/ LINQ shaft.
image.jpg
third shot ends up short left and in bunker. Sand leave to 15ft. Rolls in the 15 footer for par and yells out an explicit for letter word. End day +2 (38)

Glad you IIke the new driver and shaft. Enjoy it.
Another good ball striking day with it. Think I only missed one or two fairways and not by much.

Par'd the first. This long par 5 next. Better warm up in a hurry. It's brisk out here!

Wife is wearing about 15 layers.

Putting for birdie and bogey. Both missed.

20191117_124706.jpg

Wife crushed one 230 to get to here. I dropped the one on the green for birdie after a shanked drive. -2 through 5.

Hit a great drive on 6, and then botched a wedge approach, pitched past, and 2 putted for bogey.

edit: Here's a couple candid videos (bad language on second) of the drive. Gotta work on the worst parts of your game. lol High cut, power fade, whatever you want to call it is one of mine.

Pured this drive on 8. Hoping to get the one I gave up on 6 back.

Mysterious lost ball on 8 after that drive cost me another. Back to even after 9. I'm trying something different at address today, and it's working well off the tee. Short irons, not so much.

Wife is crushing it. She has 4 drives over 200yds right down the middle so far.

Nemesis hole coming up.

Played 243 to the pin and into the wind today. 4-iron to the front. Had an undisturbed line and powered it through the sand for a rare birdie on that hole.

edit: Worked out, but that swing doesn't look very good. I fight my left arm breaking down when I play the ball closer to my feet.

Gave it back on a horsesh*t fairway bounce on 11. No shot at the green. Back to even again.

Par on 12. Need a good drive on this one.

Don't love having to barely clear the "hairy nutsack" as my wife calls it, but this is a birdie or bust hole after that drive.

That'll work. Back to -1.

Sidenote - Wife looks like she's packing booty there. Coat bunched up? Not sure if she'll love that or hate it. Lol

My worst statistical hole up next.

I'm talking about standing closer and shifting my weight more in the video. Experimenting. Good drive, on and 2 putt for par. Approach wedge was left out to the right a bit. I have a hard time lining up closer to it and keeping my right elbow closer to my body.

Tee shot on 15. Pulled it a little left and it hit the tree past the fairway bunker on the left.

Had to hit out a little short, pitched on, but couldn't hit that one on the left for birdie. Still -1.

I went long on 16, which I know better than to do, and 3 putted for the first time in a long time. Back to even.

Missed the green on 17 while ducking a ball coming at me off the tee on 18, but nearly pitched it in.

Hit a pretty good 3W off the tee. A little toe-y, but a good one to end on with the changes today. Trying to keep a little more weight in my butt (over my heels), and not be quite as far from the ball. It had been a physical necessity most of the year, and worked, but I'm going to try to change it a little over the winter and spring.

Not the approach I wanted or expected. :/ Now I know how this hole looks for shorter hitters. I usually hit driver, but didn't want to roll to the water today.

Par on 18 for an even 71. Up and down round with the adjustments I was trying to make. 4 pretty horrendous shots, but a lot of good ones too. The wife played well on the front, and got typically frustrated on the back. Time to get some food and liquor in her!

edit: I'm editing in the videos from today if anyone wants to pick apart my swing. Wife likes the one off the 6th tee.

Anyone else playing today? We braved the gravel roads and bad gps directions to enjoy lovely Nebraska golf this afternoon.

I missed way right on the first. Up and down for par. GIR and two putt par on the second.

Overshot the par 3 4th with a 9-iron. GPS said 164 to the pin, but we couldn't really tell if the wind was straight left to right, or helping a little.

Went long on the easy par 5 too. Having distance issues with the new irons. +1 through 6, and down 3 holes. :/

I am no golf instructor but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night. :)

Noticed that on your takeaway for the back swing, you slide back to the point where it looks like your right leg is actually bowing a bit backwards in flex instead of anchoring the down swing by staying more firm. That makes your transition into your down swing a slide forward which blocks your left hip from turning out as much. What's your normal miss with a driver?

Time to get one back. 72 yards left. Partner is in the nasty fairway bunker.
