So, I think a few of us have decided that it'd be really awesome to have a little winter gathering for us golf-starved THP'ers. We're approaching ski season here in the Northeast.

I'm in. I also have a 'yes' from pmoa and dcbrad so far. We all agreed that sometime in January - after the holidays - would be the best. I'm thinking a day late in January - maybe the 26th or 27th?

Any other takers? I'm not sure of what the best location would be - I suppose that depends on the level of interest/the location of those interested. Wisp, in Garrett County, MD, is a really nice resort. 7 Springs here in Western PA is a really nice resort. Plenty of options!

Hopefully we can rally some people! Totally up for suggestions on the date/location as well.

We're looking at Saturday, February 9th. Location TBD.

I'd be game. Also, what about Holiday Valley in Elicottville, NY?

Just checked it out. Looks like an awesome spot. Not a bad drive from here at all either.

It's my home mountain. I really like it up there! Great little ski town, too!

I've never skied in NY but it looks fun. We need to find a resort with a nice amount of skill level options - looks like it'd fit the bill there as well. Plenty of trails from green to black diamonds.

Oh yeah, for sure! I have fun on a lot of the easier trails just messing around! But the diamonds are great runs too!

Sounds good. I'm hoping we can get to at least 10 people - that'd be fantastic.

A little bump for this. Looks like we're going to get some really nice snow over the next week!

I'm down for wherever. That'd definitely work for me, Thainer. Interested?

There we go! This is what im talkin about

Oh BTW...We are going to the Poconos January 12 - 19th @ Ski Camelback

$380 for the week

The poconos is more central to all and early feb works better for me. I am interested but I am a rookie.

Early February would be awesome with me as well. I have no issues with that at all. I just throw out the initial timeframe to get something going.

I've never been to the Poconos. Pretty solid skiing out there? And, Thainer, no worries. The more the merrier! I have just as much fun skiing the green's as I do the more difficult stuff. It's more about the people you're with.

Pocono's is a little too pricey for me, sorry gents.

I might be able to do something like this. Price is definitely a factor though.

Then well do it differently. No one should miss out due to cost

Nah man it's not a big deal. I don't want you guys to have to go elsewhere because I'm a poor college student.

It's more about the people than the place.

This. We can make something work.

You're more than welcome to ride out with me Darren. That should help some. I think we'd all love to have you there.

First of all, How did I miss this thread!

Second, I can totally vouch for Holiday Valley in Ellicotville NY, it's a great resort with over 50 different runs. All varying in skill from Green all the way up to Double Black Diamond. Also, there is a casino literally 15 minutes away in Salamanca, NY. The town of Ellicotville itself has lots of cool little shops and stuff for significant others or anyone who isn't up to skiing would enjoy. The cost is very affordable, $50ish for an 8 hour pass is pretty reasonable for what you get.

Also, the lifts are turbo lifts, you fly up the mountain. Longest run is a run called "Mardi Gras," it's a half mile long and is rated "blue" (intermediate) but I would rate it more as a strong green. Very fun and you can take your time with it and make it enjoyable. There are multiple lodges around the area and you can avoid crowd congestion as well by knowing your way around.

The wife and I try to go up there at least once a year, like a little treat for us. That would honestly be a great spot. Eastern PA and NYer's can hop unto 86 and ride it right to the exit basically.

I've never been to Seven Springs, but I hear nothing but great things. Pocono's would be great too, but it gets a little pricey out there for sure.

Steel if you need any help coordinating, I can for sure give you a hand. Would be cool to get a big group together for a day and hang out on the slopes.

Scheduling wise right now, the only weekend in Feb that doesn't work is the 18th, I have a wrestling tournament to ref. End of January is OK as of now. I just need to know so I don't get scheduled to ref.

Good stuff.

I think maybe early February would work really well for most (and that would work perfectly for me as well).

Should we aim for February 9th? That's a Saturday. Seems like as good a date as any!

Now, we need to iron out a place that works for all. I'm going to be making a 3-4 hour drive either way unless we're at 7 Springs (which is one of the best spots around). I really have no preference.

Also, thanks for offering to help Brad! I'll let you know if I need something. Much appreciated.

Lets make this happen! How should we go about picking a location?

I'd be thrilled if we could get at least 10 on board.
