Titleist GT Drivers – GT2, GT3 and GT4

A right miss is popping up for me recently as well. Not my patented power fade of years past but a push that starts and stays too far right. It is all swing which is on me. I won't expect a driver to fix all of my flaws, but I am seeing better misses off the GT3. Adding wind is just something to grind through...

It's been a while, but what driver did you switch from? Is the GT3 more forgiving than your previous club? Any new misses or changes in shot shape?
That push right miss is my patented miss so far with the GT3. It's much less penalizing than the slicey or pull misses that I'd see much more frequently with the TSR2; not sure how much of that is driver and how much of it is swing improvements though.

Played my first round today with the GT2 that I was fit into over the off season. Hit 10 of 14 fairways which is quite good considering it was the first time I swung this driver. Missed the first two fairways left and then hit 10 of the remaining 12. And the distance for me was really good considering it’s April and course is wet.

Played down in Lake Geneva Friday on the Player course and these were the two best drives I hit during the round.

This drive on 12 I missed just a little out of the heel and ended up dead middle of the fairway.

This was a BOMB off of an elevated tee box on a par 5. Had a 7 iron in off the tee shot but chunked it 100 yards lol. Hit a nice flighted wedge in and then sank a 29 footer for birdie. Was a hell of a hole!

Today really gave me a nice boost of confidence with the GT4. I was only 2/7, but wasn't missing the fairway by much, so that's huge for me. I did have one snap hook on 18, but definitely something I'm not really concerned with like I was with my past 3 drivers.

Was getting some really great distance today too, whether it was into the wind or not. I can't say enough about how great this head looks and how it gives me a ton of confidence teeing it up. The sound is so so good too, that light crisp crack is just so good.

Here's my first swing of the day and my best, almost driving a green.

Had a great weekend with the GT3. After making a more consistent swing across the board, averages went up quite a bit off the tee and finding center was not just outdriving my friend (and match play opponent) by 5-10 yards, but many were 20-30 yards past him...not that I made any comments about it  I was punished by finding a few bunkers that are typically not in play off the tee for me.

Best drive was at a narrow course that set up a chip onto a par 4 which dropped for eagle:

and I added my longest drive of the year (and could stay that way) on Saturday. A lower shot with a ton of roll that thankfully I aimed too far right on and missed the bunkers:

Past years had me averaging (P-Average) about 270, maybe 275 during a hot streak in the summer, but over the last 5 rounds, this driver somehow found me extra yardage. Once I started making a better turn in my back swing, the baby draws have really helped. The straight average that includes less than ideal drives is almost 260 which is wild.

I will add that I have added about 5 mph to my swing over the past few months and whether it is the faster speed and/or a new shaft that I am testing, my friend commented that the driver was sounding less metallic and more 'plastic-y'. I have not noticed a big change in sound, but he might be unfamiliar with me making center contact. I have been doing a better job with face control and contact. Hoping that this continues.

Played in a scramble Saturday so don't have actual stats here, but I continue to really see the benefits from this stick. The new move is starting to work in, though not perfect, and as a result I didn't miss anything left, all misses were right and not big directionally, which is excellent for me - pull hooks are pain and I didn't have any. Again don't have solid numbers behind it, but I had multiple drives around 300 yards. First drive of the day I had an opportunity to try to carry a lake that requires a minimum 260 all carry, and I cleared it comfortably just left of the intended line.

First handicap round on my own ball will be this Sunday. I probably won't get a chance to hit any balls prior to that because baby, but I think I'm going to try to get one or two speed sessions with the SuperSpeed sticks in just to work some mechanics from my last lesson and try to put a little more speed behind it. I've seen up to 114-115 on sims but it's not consistent, and with the new move I've so far topped out at like 108-109, cruising at more like 105. I want to try to get the top end ~115 again and see if I can sneak the bottom end up to closer to 110.

Had another pretty solid 9 hole round off the tee with the GT3 last night. Long drives of 268 and 261, and another that was 245 into the wind. Did snap hook my last two tee shots, but that was all user error and it was getting COLD out lol. I just absolutely love this club.

I played a course yesterday that is starting to dry out and has some pretty good roll-out. Also, a couple of elevated tees that figure into things.

Definitely had some misses off the tee that caused a drop, and a couple of reloads, and my score, 87, reflected that. Although, when I did manage to keep it somewhere in play the results were were stellar. The GT2/XT Soft combo continues to make this old guy smile.

331!!!! Dropping the hammer!

More work to do after a tough round off the tee, but I am seeing longer drives now that the good weather is here. My swing has changed a little and my drives are lower in height, but I am sending them out further on good shots, even off center ones. A few more heel shots lately, but even these are out there 260+. Toe shots go further with a slight draw and the weight still in T1. I am wondering if I should adjust the weight if I am having trouble closing the face, but I know it is my own issue and not the club after having a great time with the current set up for a while.

The GT4 is the real deal. The best driver I have hit in a very long time. Moved over from a Ping. A2 setting with a custom Accra shaft on it

You have the heavy weight up front or back?

I have mine in the rear with some added lead tape and it's been so good.

Cold, windy day for my round yesterday and still managed to pick up 1 stroke off the tee vs a 5 hcp and P-Avg 267 yards with 50% fairways. And I thought I had a bad driving day.

Kept the one way miss as well, only missed one shot left with the GT3 and it was an absolutely awful tentative duck hook swing that no driver would save. The right misses were annoying, but they were just pushes or push fades that still got solid distance. That's the miss with every club right now as I learn to move from the inside - if I don't get the hands through to get the face square, it's just a block.

The GT3 is giving me great results even when I am having a rough day. This has been a theme and so far is holding up!

Pretty interesting to see.

Pretty interesting to see.

I would think that Titleist would be leading the charge for Q1 because they had their product available for consumers for the full quarter whereas the other brands didn’t have them available until post PGA show or around that timeframe. It will be interesting to see how Q2 numbers fall out.

I would think Titleist’s two year release cycles factor in as well. Callaway seems to put out something new every six months, Taylormade every year or so. The others feel rushed to me as well. Of course, these are only impressions, so no need to beat me up with actual release dates. And part of my impressions may come from aggressive promotional campaigns by the OEMs. With Titleist, however, you can set your calendar and save up for their most recent breakthrough in technology. And personally, I couldn’t keep up chasing some of the other brands latest/greatest.

Glad to hear you got it back in the saddle and big shout out to Titleist and their excellent customer service. Nice to get quick turnaround at the beginning of our golf season after being indoors for months. Go out and hit some 💣 💣 💣!

Ok it’s that time of season myself and @PatsFan have been stretching and exercising all winter (not really) but our league starts this Monday. New in the bag is the GT4 driver and GT2 7wood didn’t have them in the bag last year thanks to hackers paradise and titleist for a great experience at hidden creek and some lessons on course. Off course with PGA HoPe I’m ready and feel more confident then ever to achieve my new goal breaking single digits last year before the experience I was a 23 barely breaking 100 now I’m a 13.3 and just a matter of time I break 80. As I journey through the season I’ll post stats on my fairway hits and try to get in other data on the GT. Stay tuned.

I had been toying around with a Qi35 but the GT2 is headed back. There is a lot to like about both, but the GT2 just gives me a little bit more of everything I want and look for.

It was a good run!

I think Titleist, Ping, Elyte will be the Q2. I was at CC this week and asked them about drivers. They said Titleist looks like it’s gonna be holding strong while Ping makes a push followed by Elyte. There’s a lot of momentum/excitement around Titleist regarding the drivers and they don’t anticipate that changing.

GT2 honeymoon is over. I believe It's been 7 months since I got the GT2 and all I can say is wow. My wandering eye doesn't wander as I walk through Carls. Such an amazing combination of distance, workability and forgiveness. Whats not to like? I am no brand loyal kind of guy, but the GT2 hybrids are insanely good to me as well.
When my 65 yr old butt can stand on a par 5 tee and tell my partner you want to aim at a particular tree and hit a baby draw so you dont run off the left to right sloping fairway and he says "show me". And you do. 279 yards worth, right up the gut. Yes it was 16' downhill from the tee box, but that is still a pretty damn good poke for me. I am averaging in the low 260's with this, and hitting lots of fairways, and the misses arent bad at all. Two holes earlier I had to hit a very high high fade over an uphill dogleg. Dead center, flip sand wedge to the green. I am convinced my confidence off the tee is why I am winning my match play league against a bunch of guys 15-40 years younger than me. I have no fear of being aggressive with the GT2.

Well today I hit 7 out of 9 fairways went left on 2 because I was rushing distance was around 260-270 far better and straighter then my last driver once my range opens up I’ll get some data up with my 3 drivers for comparison.

I've had some bigger issues with the driver lately, but I can compare it to my old driver after playing the GT3 for a while. I have had a lot of penalties over the last few weeks, but I am playing a narrow course this year compared to my old home course so rather than fescue or a fairway next door, I am into trees or worse. The misses are less sever, but the course has been more punishing. As always, the grind continues but the GT3 has been a help towards the ultimate goal of playing better.
