Titleist GTS Fairway Woods – GTS2, GTS3

Did not pull the 7 wood at all yesterday, but did pull the 4 wood 2 times, one was a slight push that had remarkable distance, as long as anything I hit with it - despite wetter early AM conditions. Then on 17 (a par 5), took it out and just smoked a shot from the first cut - light rough, after a so-so drive, it put me back in line to make birdie (had I chipped better), After the drive I had not expected to be chipping on, yet here we were, so so drive, great (really great), 4 wood and chip.

I made the decision a few weeks ago to make the 4 wood my goto on longer fairway/light rough shots, pulled the GT280 and it's gone. This change maybe sacrifices a bit of distance on perfect shots from the GT280 but the fact that the GTS 3 4 wood is so much easier to hit, makes up for that without a second thought.

Got on the course today and only hit my fairways twice. One really poor swing with 3w where I came over the top on a tee ball and had a pull hook off the toe. Ball stayed in play though and had a good look in.

Pulled 5w from 248 on a Par 5 and hit a laser on the exact start line I wanted. Perfect flight window and strike it just leaked a little right on me and ended up just off the green past pin high. My poor short game didn’t do me any favors today but all of my GTS clubs put me in good positions.

I’m finding I prefer the GTS3 over the GTS2 but that’s not shocking since I’ve historically preferred deeper faced fairways.

It’s so funny looking back how I thought the silver face may be a bit distracting and the shape of the 5w was a little odd or different than I have been used to.

None of it matters, might be my favorite fwy wood I’ve hit in years. I can control it, easy launch and distance is perfect. So good.
Agreed. It’s pretty amazing how you really do see the loft so much more. I’ve let my dad hit mine a few times and he’s really liked it and mentioned how much he could see the loft without me saying anything about it.

3 swings today with the GTS fairways.

7 wood slight pull but distance was ok, in the end no complaints, I think it may have been the only shot I crowded all day.
4 wood - 2 shots, joyous long straight birdies resulted off of both shots. Yea, temporary greens - but I was well inside where I ordinarily would be when the greens are open.

I am finding these clubs easier and easier to hit - and hit well with superb results, to the point where I just trust the shot. I am also getting better and when to use them and where - depth of the rough dictates which one comes out of the bag.

I need to get some time on the range with mine. I’ve never been great with FW’s and am currently struggling a little bit. That being said, I’m hitting the ball decent compared to how I’ve usually hit them in the past. Before bad ones were pretty much unplayable. With these I’m still in play even though I’ve been hitting a swipey little fade.

When I do hit them good though they are such a joy though. Today I hit the 7w and came up a little short and right of the green from about 240 but it wasn’t a bad spot. Later from 256 I hit the 5 wood with a little fade that ended up just right of the green a little short of pin high. I’m pretty sure with my old 5w it would have been in the trees based on how I hit it.

If I can get a little range time in with them to hit them like I first was then my game will be in a great spot. A couple that I hit today I really tried to make sure I hit down on the ball. It’s so much easier to do with the silver face. I’m going to try get some range time in Wednesday morning.

Got a round in and man these woods and again just a perfect combo off the tee and ground. Started the round with a perfect high 5w in the FW and hit that 2 more times during the round. Just love the look, feel and consistency of these woods.

Got to play at another course in town yesterday. It is a short course with several holes that take driver out of play so I got to hit quite a few shots with the 7w.

Hole 1- No range or warm up so I trusted a cut off the tee as there was danger right. I started it left and it cut back to the center of the fairway.

Hole 2- There was a left to right hurting wind. It’s a tough driving hole as it you are too far left you are blocked by trees but right is a hill with native area. I started out just a hair right of my intended line with a baby fade. The wind grabbed it though and took it about 3-4 yards into the native area. Most holes it would be fine.

Hole 5- hit one low and caught a tree as I was trying to carry everything onto the green of a short par 4. It would have been fairway on a normal hole. I hit a 2nd just because which was a nice high baby draw and ended up on the back fringe.

Hole 8- pushed one just a bit on a tight hole and went into trouble. Re-teed and played a fade that was perfect and just short of the green.

Hole 9- I hit another nice high baby draw right at the flag and ended up on the green with an eagle putt.

Hole 11- striped on dead at my target.

Hole 12- Tried cutting the corner over trees to go for the green. You have to get it up quick to get over the tees so I teed it up a little higher than normal and hit up a little like with driver. I hit it a little higher than I wanted but it was safe and still carried probably 225 into the wind and left me about 15 yards short of the green.

Overall I was really happy with how I hit it. The two that missed right and were out were only about 10-15 yards right of my target. They were just really tight holes. Those shots would have been fine on most holes. The low one was really the only bad strike and it started a little left and was fading back to center and would have been in the fairway on most holes.

Titleist will be at our range today so I’m going to go up there in a couple hours to try the new Mini Driver. If he’s not too busy I might also try some other shafts (maybe a 7w shaft) for the 5w to see if I can hit it a little better. It’s certainly been much better than previous 5w’s but not quite as good as the 7w had been.

I got to spend a little time in the range today with the 7w and 5w. I’m really liking the results I’m getting from the 7w. I also made some progress with the 5w and started hitting it pretty well. I had some that were not great but even those would have advanced the ball and been in play. Compared to some of the misses with my old 5w it’s a dramatic improvement. With the old one I’d often times be thinking “why am I even trying to hit this club”.

I’ve hit a few out of the rough and was pretty happy with the results. Much better than a hybrid and irons wouldn’t have gotten anywhere close to the green. I think the silver face and confidence of hitting down and attacking the ball has contributed to that success.

Hitting down. I need to think about that more. I like the silver face as much as any of us but i don’t think about it. I think i just see it but don’t process it like yall do (maybe it’s a subconscious thing)

ll I can say is that I love my GTS fairway woods. My 7-wood is quickly becoming my favorite club in the bag. I have so much confidence in it because it does exactly what I want it to do.

When I'm out of position on a par 4 and have about 200 yards into the green, I pull the 7W without hesitation. More often than not, I end up on the green with a birdie putt. The ball just gets up in the air and lands softly with a very little roll out. It's become a true go-to club for me.

The addition of the 13.5° 3-wood has also been a big positive. It's been very solid off the tee, and while I'm still getting comfortable hitting it off the deck, I'm already seeing great results. My 5-wood has been excellent both off the tee and from the fairway. When I put a good swing on it, it simply performs.

These woods have been a great addition to my bag and are doing exactly what I hoped they would. The combination of confidence, forgiveness, and performance has made a noticeable difference in my game. Since June, my handicap has dropped by about a stroke, and these clubs have definitely played a role in that improvement.

I'm really liking mine. I had a tee shot on Saturday that it allows me to take on. Normally I just hit a 7i into the bowl and play it as a 3 shot hole. With my old Cobra driver I could sometimes hit it in a scramble to cut the corner but I either had to take a really aggressive line or hit a big draw which was not my strong suit. The 7W allows me to take a less aggressive line and not have to worry about going long OB. I hit this one well and went just long into the rough but wasn't too bad and it left me 238 uphill to the green which would be another 7w. The red line is roughly the line I took over the trees.

As noted in the driver thread, not a good day today. But one of the highlights (there were about 4 for the day), was the 4 wood from light rough going into par 5 - I had no shot to make the green but I did capture a lot lost yardage from the crappy drive I had, making the next shot easier (but still played it poorly). I did give myself a shot, and without the decent 4 wood - I would not have even had that.

One of the big things this year with the GTS Fairways is obviously the silver face. I immediately wasn't sure about it but upon seeing performance those concerns went away. With fwy's you hit them from all sorts of lies and the black faces always end up having marks on them whether its from sand or whatever. Even having been through probably 15-20 rounds, the steel face still going strong and even when it shows dirt, a clean wipe with a wet towel it looks brand new again.

Noticed this very clearly yesterday comparing the GT 1 Hybrid (black face few uses - so far) to the GTS 4 and 7 that I carry which like you said look superb behind the ball and show far less 'stuff'. It's a great look and often overlooked by me (at least). Given the choice silver wins.

It’s one of my favorite things, and makes me wonder why we ever went away from it in fairways

I’ve hit the 7w out of the rough a few times and it’s worked well for me too. I had one this weekend that was buried on a downhill ball below my feet lie. In the past I wouldn’t have thought about hitting a wood but I felt comfortable here. I tired to hit a fade to run up towards the green. It didn’t come out great but was on the line I wanted to start it. It didn’t fade but ended up in the left side of the fairway. I was happy with the result as it left me a pitch to the green on the par 5.

Everyone that I’ve let look at mine has set it down and commented on how good it looked. I think the silver face combined with the shaping just sets up so well behind the ball.

Because black/dark was cool

I had never bagged a 7W before this, and like @Jman and many others have said, it's really a fun club - and it works from so many lies. I may try chipping with it - for giggles. Heck I used to do that with a hybrid (when they were still new to the golf world), on a lark from the fringe and from maybe 4-8 beyond played it much like a putter and boom holed out first time I tried it. Memories. And the 7W is creating new ones.

Oh yea, honestly when I look at the silver face, I view it as framing more than loft appearance. the black club, silver face ball, it al works to frame the ball and give me the picture I want at set up.

I guess I am not as keen on the loft nuances as others.

I absolutely LOVE how easy it makes it for me to see the loft at setup. Keeps me from trying to hoist it up in the air more, thankfully, haha

I used the 7W into a 237 yard par 3 last night 😳

I really understand that - I just don't see it (or maybe I do but don't think about it), and it's under the radar - I did post earlier that I need to engage the brain more.
