Titleist GTS Fairway Woods – GTS2, GTS3

7W was a weapon again today. It’s honestly shockingly long off the tee for me.

that silver face just gives me more confidence with the club because you see the loft. These metal woods are so easy to hit. Yesterday from about 240 yards out pulled the 3W best shot I hit off the deck with this club. It landed on the front of the green rolled to the back stress free birdie.

16.5* GTS2 saved my backside yesterday. I was in the rough, but the ball was perched up. Normally I wouldn't hit that lower lofted club out of the rough, much less a shallow faced fairway on a fluffly lie. But I needed this shot after a less than stellar drive on this par 5, and my opponent was long and dead center. Trying to pick it off the fluffy lie, I thinned it a bit. Ball never got more than 30' in the air, but flew dead straight, ending up 15 yards short of the green. A pitch and a putt for a bird and a halved hole.

I let @Chickenkiller hit the driver and 7w yesterday. I know he really liked the 7w. I think I have him talked into setting up a fitting.

One of the big things this year with the GTS Fairways is obviously the silver face. I immediately wasn't sure about it but upon seeing performance those concerns went away. With fwy's you hit them from all sorts of lies and the black faces always end up having marks on them whether its from sand or whatever. Even having been through probably 15-20 rounds, the steel face still going strong and even when it shows dirt, a clean wipe with a wet towel it looks brand new again.

That a GTS3?? If so, what setting do you have it?? I’m wanting a GTS3 5w to use as my 4w.

Yes sir. GTS 3 5w set at D-1
I’ve been looking through the thread and realized it after I’d asked 😂thank you kindly. I’m thinking D1 or C2 for mine. The deeper face works for he. My 440s are just too shallow. My hip pocket will take a beating Tuesday!!!!

Playing tomorrow after the very poor showing last Wednesday. Had shots in the wrists and ready to go out and play. I fully expect to give the GTS fairways a workout because THEY HAVE OPENED UP 15 of the 18 NEW GREENS - so the course, also a few holes have had the tee boxes rebuilt and extended.

Really eager to get out there with these things - under 'normal' golf distance/green conditions.

Oh, also, regripped the driver, woods and Hy-way (GT1), with midsize Well MXS grips so further eager to see how that goes.

Will be hitting the GTS300 tomorrow on an off day as well as the GTS fairways for the first time. Looking forward to the comparison to my Quantum Max fairway.

Ok, what can I say. We had about 3+ days of rain and the course is wet, we are at sea level so it's wetter than you think a lot of fairways while no standing 'deep' water did have the 'mud sucking' water/grass/mud that prevent roll. So what did I do with the GTS 3 four wood and the GTS 2 seven wood? I had the best day with these clubs since they entered the bag - ok, that's a lie the Titleist Experience was 2+ days of always better, but other than those days, today was superb.

The clubs delivered from soggy lies, light rough, wherever I used the clubs they did exactly what they are supposed to do and it was memorable as well - as in eager to get back out there - or maybe can't wait to do so again.

Now, I did not hit a single green with any shot - I came up short a few times, having laid off slightly, but, the direction, distance, comfort, and trust were all there and on display. The 4 wood was getting me about 190 no roll and the 7 closer to 165-70. On regular condition days the 4 wood would have most certainly put 2 balls on the green the and 7 would have put one on, the direction, feel of solid contact, made it very clear - these are genuinely not going anywhere.

GTS2 7w showed out a few times today. GTS3 5w is super solid. I just need to figure out the tee height. Think I’m gonna really like these. Very solid sticks.

I had a 7 wood shot after a poor drive on #2 - early and no warm up. I had planned to aim at the bunker on the left and let the ball go - maybe it fades maybe not, but it would be safe. Ended up, in the same area I plugged on Monday, but maybe 5 yards off the green, nice chip, putt, par. and this after a worm burner drive - yea. I would take that. Here is what I had left for the 7 wood.

Couple notable 4 woods - one went well from a slightly deeper than I should have used it on rough, and one from middle fairway (after a great GTS 4 drive), that left me about 50 yards to the hole on a par 5. Pitch 2 putt par.

I am soooo digging these clubs.

How high you teeing the ball up with yours??

Very low, almost or maybe mid iron off a long 3 low. 1/4” i think.

O’ve only hit a few off the tee with the 7w but for most have tees them up pretty low. I have teed a couple up higher when I had to get it up quick over trees which I was able to do. On the ones I’ve teed lower I tried to swing similar to if I was hitting off the tee and I’ve had pretty good success and been happy with the ball flight.

Hit the 5w out of some thick heather last night, luckly had a pretty decent lie in there. Was able to elevate the ball just enough to get it out about 200 yds and back into play. Never thought that would be a shot I'd try to hit but I thought I could do it and I did. Huge fan of this club

Thought it might be fun to give a quick rundown of the best shots that you have hit with the new FW's.

For me three stand out.

The first was shortly after the Titleist Experience and I had about 240 yards to the pin on a par 5 with water short. Previously it would have been a lay up and wedge but I felt confident with the 7w and landed one on the green that stopped pretty well and hung on the fringe.

Second was another 7w approach into a par 5 that was a slight pull but faded back to the pin and left me only 8ft from about 250 yards out. This is another where previous I probably would have hit a 6i and just try to run it up short of the green.

Third was off the tee with the 7w on a 270 yard par 4. It plays a little down hill and you just need a carry of about 230-240 to get it to run up to and maybe on the green. I hit a nice little draw with good height that was heading straight towards the pin.

As you can see I've hit the 7w quite a bit more than the 5w. Part of that is that the driver has been so good that I haven't needed to hit the 5w to stay in play. The other is that I don't have many shots at my course that require me to hit a FW but the few times 5w typically was too much. I did have the chance to hit it on Monday though and hit it beautifully right down the middle of the fairway. One thing I've noticed is that my good shots have been when I really commit and focus (imagine that) while also making sure to hit down on the ball. I've been able to launch these higher with more consistency than I have other FW's in the past.

How's everyone's wear mark on the fariway wood faces? I know I tend to sky them if I tee them up too high (I try not to anymore).

I've hit mine a few times out of rough with a couple that I had to hit pretty high to get over trees and I was able to do that. It's hard to believe I'm saying that after hitting line drives for years haha.

Last I checked the faces still looked pretty darn good. A minimal amount of wear but nothing that would bother or concern me.

I showed a couple pictures a few posts up. Still look pretty new. Way better than dark faces I've had in the past. In fact, the sole of the 5w is the only place I've seen any wear at all
