Today I had the pleasure of playing in the inaugural event. Played with j4u and it was a blast. It is 150$ for a 2 man team to play and they provide some swag. Winning team of each regional wins trip to Vegas for championship. 50k grand prize for the winners in Las Vegas.
50 2 man teams competed.
Round 1 is stroke play. 3 games, 20 balls for games 1 and 2. 30 balls for game 3.
Game 1. Top golf. Each person hits 2 balls then alternate. For this game I recommend hitting at 150 target, closer to pin gets more points. 10 first ball then possible 20 on second
Game 2. Top score. Best strategy is hitting at the center of the back net. Take a 250 club and go to pound town. 75 points available per shot. Again 2balls each then alternate. This was the big points grabber. You really want to score big here. We scored 775 and was barely good enough. Look for 900+ to get best seeding
Game 3 top shot. Hitting at 50yd target and look to light up all sections of the grid on round 1. If you do that you go round 2, same concept but if you hit same region twice it subtracts those points until you hit it again. 30 balls here, hit 2 then alternate.
Top 8 scores advance to match play. From there it's single elimination match play. Game is top shot advanced. Each person hits one ball then alternate. First 5 balls (3 from 1 person and 2 from other) is to 90 yd flag. Next 5 balls at 125, next 5 at 150. Last 5 at 185. The 15th ball determines the winner here as it's the bonus ball and has big points if you get it inside the second outer ring. So whoever hits first out of your team will be hitting bonus ball and it's at the 150 flag.
Overall it was fun and I'd do it again next year. Look forward to seeing more thpers competing and taking home the 50k prize in vegas!
