Tour Edge Exotics CBX 119 Fairway Woods and Hybrids

I'll say this, I was surprised with the spin on the original CBX (in my bag now at 19), was not as "low" as I have seen with other offerings out there like the F9 and several of Callaway's.

But ball speed was/is, LEGIT. And launch.

I currently have G400 3 and 5 wood. They have been pretty good and what turned me on to them was the shallow face. I like the way they set up off turf. I was planning on going to have a proper fitting on them and possibly change shafts. Now, the TEE have me intrigued and am considering maybe giving them a shot. how do they campare with the G400 from a face depth perspective? Thanks in advance!

Oh man, I’ve got literally three swings on the G400 hybos so I’m not a ton of help there. I’d call depth in the CBX more traditional but with a smaller overall footprint than the 400s for sure.

No worries. Thanks. I am still going to try them Im sure. I am also going to give the new Cobra 3 wood a whirl.

Not sure I have the swing for either, but I just know these will be absolute bombers. Full believer in TEE fairways.

The excitement Tour Edge has for these being released is pretty fun to follow on the social media platforms.

Really eager to learn more in a much more up close and personal environment!

You should do a head to head comparison with yours and the new model. See if there is any significant change!

Hey, you buy me one and I’m innnnnnnnnn!

Haha!

I kid, but, I’d bet eventually it will happen!

Yep. Way up on the hit list right away, particularly the fairway. I reviewed the CBX and gamed it off and on through the year and it was the only fairway I was legitimately getting juuuuuuuust less than driver ball speed off of, and spin killer was 1000% correct.

Really want to find a way to give this one a go as well. Also, kudos to TE for staying in that price realm of 299, it wasn’t but a couple years ago they were still producing 400+ dollar fairways!

And I just got the EXS driver, FW and hybrids because of you :p

I prefer the previous gen look though. This new one takes a bit of getting used to.

Looking forward to more about these. Should finally have the previous model in hand later today. I am also glad to see they are maintaining a more competitive pricing structure.

Hmm interesting TE didn't mention the CBX119 before you got your current set. The timing was kinda close.

No big deal. The fitting was 3 months ago so I understand if they didn't want to let the cat out of the bag that early. I was the first member of the general public to hit the EXS driver!

Frankly I like the older version lookwise more than the new one. Yes that experience is something money can't buy

Yeah, these look freaking incredible. Hope I can find one to demo because if I have one gripe with my 3w, it's that it is spinny.

Any reviews on the hybrid compared to last years?

My own experience hitting the CBX 119 was that is was very easy to hit. Flight was much flatter than my curent hybrid. It was 3 degrees less (20) which might be the reason but it was a nice boring flight. The club is long. I was hitting it cold, no warmup ten to maybe twnety yards more than my older TM. If there had been $249 in my wallet at that moment they would have gotten it.

I was planning on doing an unboxing video for my TEEm Tour Edge deliveries but my littlest monster decided she wanted to open it first while I was at work. My wife was nice enough to send me some pics after. My first shipment is a CBX 119 Fairway wood 15* With a Project X HZRDUS Smoke 6.5 shaft.

Can't wait to get out and test it.

Gorgeous fairway wood. Really interested in your thoughts. Especially how it compares to your Epic SZ 3 wood. I had one last year, so I am familiar with it.

As promised I got a little surprise in the mail today. I wanted to share a few initial thoughts. First, it was cool seeing my name as the purchase order #, I dont know why but that got me excited LOL! As for the club the first thing I noticed was the headcover. This is a nice headcover with bold graphics. It will definitely be noticed in the bag and it definitely does not look like they just found the cheapest bidder to make it. You can tell Tour Edge thought about what they were putting their name on.

The club head is sharply finished and the crown looks great at address. The Y-ish shaped feature that starts behind the face and goes back along the sole around the CBX logo really looks like it will help with turf interaction and inspires confidence in the club once you take the headcover off.

I only had about 15 minutes of free time, but I live on a course so that's all I needed to give it a quick whirl. I walked out to the tee of the 405 yard par 4 15th hole because it's slightly uphill and I figured 2 shots with this should get me to the green. The first ball was well struck but pulled down the left side (not the clubs fault, my unloose hips were to blame for sure). I wasn't actually playing so I pulled my ball out to the fairway and lined up from 190 and caught the ball just towards the hosel. This did result in the ball going right, but I got good distance for me and it landed just about 5 yards short of the front right of the green with a high ball flight. My max distance from there would be 200 and I hit it probably 180 so I only lost about 10% on a hosel shot.

I picked it up and moved over to the tee of the next hole coming back towards my house. This one is only 310 so this was going to be my last swing. I teed it up about 1/4" and took a couple of practice swings to loosen up. This time I hit it center face and got a really nice high ball flight with a slight draw (my natural shape). I stepped off from the 100 about 15 paces towards the green so I ended up hitting this one about 225. After 3 shots there are definitely no alarms on performance, this club is perfectly capable of launching rockets, even in my hands. The sound and feel are closer to a Ping sound and feel than a Callaway. What I mean is it is more solid and tingy sounding than soft and thwacky sounding if that makes sense.

I hope to get out some tomorrow night for a bit more action. If anyone saw my shot on the best shot of the round thread yesterday, I will go over and attempt that with this 3 wood to compare results. I am looking forward to testing this club.

Man, I love the long hosel of the updated CBX. Gives it such a classic look.

Tour Edge Exotics CBX 119 Fairway Woods and Hybrids

As part of the TEEm project/participation I just received the first shipment of the series. Reveal video here https://www.thehackersparadise.com/forum/showthread.php/113632-Welcome-to-TEEm-Tour-Edge

With that said, it’s time to review as Tour Edge requested.

First thoughts, I believe the head is “small” at address. To me, looking down at address instantly says “oh boy better hit this good”. Not much going on for the top side, which isn’t a huge deal breaker but my eye wants a little dazzle if that makes sense. I would prefer a logo or subtle carbon fiber in the head like the EXS line. Just my initial thoughts right out of the box.

Face is clean with great tech built in. More on that later. Bottom side is clean also. More on that as well

I will say they didn’t skimp on the head cover game. Not going to lie, the head cover “aesthetically” is by far the best part of this club. My opinion. They did well. What I also liked is how thin the cover is. It’s not cheap, but easy to get on and off. Usually current ones have an elastic piece in it that requires finagling or force to get over the head when putting away. Not this, it slides right over. I dig that, easy on and off.
