Tour Read Golf - Powered by Odyssey

Well, I think you are oversimplifying when you state that it doesn't apply to course usage. Getting better in practice and then applying that information to the course is valuable. I do think that starting to recognize breaks a with as small increments as possible will help in getting better lines and better results.

maybe I just have poor math skills or that I feel like it will take too long. For example. 26’ putt on 1.8% slope With 0% up/down.

8 paces so 2 x 8 -1 = 15 plus a little more for the extra two feet X 1.8 = 29”(answer in training mode). 15ish x 1.8 is not quick math for me. On the course I am probably going to do 15 x 2 = 30ish” Because I see the slope as about 2.

I’ve been doing the training mode and wondering if anyone else has the same thoughts that I do.

the app produces/quizes slopes and up/down in tenths of a percent which of course you can do the math to get the read. But, is anyone actually capable of visualizing the difference between a 1.1 and a 1.2 slope? maybe; but I am not sure, someone can even see 0.5%, other than saying this seems like a little more or less. When you use this on course, how accurate are you going with you reads? Are you doing detailed math or just using the chart? When using the training mode are you just entering your own values and only going to 0.5%? Is training mode or the actual read using your phone realistic to what you actually do on course?
I typically do the equation to the half percent, but it’s not really that I can see the halves, but more I can tell when I’m between wholes, if that makes sense

That's a great result and that triggered a speed memory from the videos. Missing high and low on putts means you didn't quite get the speed of the green right if I remember correctly.
I mean it could be speed or it could be that I really did start too high becasue measuring by inches from a decent distance away is always going to be a guess of sorts

Most often your math on a 26' putt will be just as good as doing it more precisely, I'm absolutely not disputing that. I've simply found that trying to be a bit more precise with the math helps me also be more precise about where I aim and thus closer to the hole.

Thats right - and great to see those results @Muchmore and @Inioch !

Now that the rain has finally subsided in Atlanta, I'm getting out tomorrow for 36 (McLemore & the Keep...pumped for both). Looking forward to putting the Tour Read to the test on these mountain courses!

Putting the Tour Read in action tomorrow morning. I'll be the first person out in the morning, but playing alone, I'll have time to mess about with some reads on greens.

Man, I need to study more.

My thick skull just isn’t allowing myself to process reads quickly yet, so I get frustrated and quick in my routine.

Time to rewatch. Then slow down, on the greens.

I've watched the basics once a week now :D
It takes time to get ingrained. Just watching the warmup videos again so that maybe I remember them in the morning.

I’ve not watched them all again this week yet, but did thrive last week. Gotta change that ASAP.

I have been away from using this for a while, weather is turning but I know that when I was using it I'd get my pace from marking my ball and walking it off to the pin to pull it out.

Then as I go back I can see if I can detect which is the high side and do the math in my head.

By the time I get back to the ball I have a number and direction and can go and set my alignment line then go for it.

It took me watching them a second time to get them to stick. I went through the videos the first 2 or 3 days and then played and putted great. Went out 2 or 3 days later and hadn't practiced since that round, and I couldn't even remember the formula.

I’m going to start carrying my scorecard holder with the charts too, I just need to laminate them. Will go well with my DECADE system

I have not really meant to ignore this thread. If anything. This is probably something I need more than anything in my golf game. I need to dive into this..

I feel this so much. When I start to get a little frustrated I just rush and blow things up and make myself more frustrated.

Yuuuuuuuup.

I’m insanely fast at everything on the course, so I planning really working mentally on how I’ve got time, so slow the eff down.

When you say fast, how much of a difference between the regular reading and putting to using this method?

Great idea on laminating those charts - good weekend project!

100% me as well - if anything, this system has allowed me to develop a process to slow down just a bit and get my bearings. Huge win in my books.

Opinion of one, but by pushing myself to learn this system, its forced me to slow down and develop a process. Which in turn has helped me on the mental side already.

Highly highly recommend it

I get to take this to a course I don’t get to play very often so it will be a huge test to see how well I can stay locked in on greens that I’m not super familiar with! Excited!

Sounds like a couple of us have some rounds lined up on unfamiliar tracks - excited to hear everyone’s reviews!

100 bucks a year is pricey..
Even reading through the thread, you can get a great understanding of how the system works and be able to discuss in here and apply it on the course. That’s what I’ve been doing.

And they of course have a 14 day free trial as well

I'll be using this on a new course to me this Sunday as well, in front of a bunch of CO THP'ers as well, some who have seen my atrocious putting before.
