True Temper Steelfiber Nexus

A lot of talk about butt end stiffness, which can be a little polarizing when it comes to how different people describe feel.

Simple question.

Do you think the Nexus feels pleasant to swing?
For me the black has been. It feels stable without being harsh or rigid

Can anyone compare the feel to another shaft we may have heard or used? Or is it completely different feeling?
The lower half feels like something in the Denali or Evenflow realm to me. Top half is maybe closest to something like a Tensei Orange of the things I've tried, but still feels a little different than that. I can't think of anything that feels particularly comparable as far as the whole shaft is concerned.

Alright, another round in on the Black (in the MAX-K) this morning. Likely putting the Blue into play for this afternoon's round.

But, to the Black.

I'm in the 60X, and that was definitely the right call. Thus far I am getting that feeling of stability under than hands which we have alllllllllll been repeatedly talking about in here, but mixed with a little more action beneath that, specifically the harder I try to turn on it.

The Black is absolutely not nearly as active as the Blue, at all, nor is the load/unload feeling as prevalent as some other shafts I have used recently, but there is also no feeling like I am having to work at it which sometimes occurs with more stable shafts.

There has already been some comparison talks in here, and I totally agree with @JB that is a good thing to try and find a baseline for people who are reading and potentially interested. Thing is, I'm coming up empty. LOWER half, there is a reminder of the Riptide a good bit for me. I played that shaft a LOT, as it was the first PX driver shaft that I really got along well with, in the lower 2/3 of the shaft it remains smooth but not overly active.

Under the hands though, I have legit nothing to compare it to. The stability and connection is wild, but it also avoids being harsh. Honestly, it is breaking my mind a bit.

The Black is much more subtle and connected, but there’s not rigidity/over-stout sensation.
This is what I am expecting when I swing it. A Connected feel. WHen I was swinging it without hitting a ball that is what I was feeling but was curious when I actually hit a ball if its that same feel.

So wild to read this feedback.

I’m sure that they can, I was simply speaking for myself. It’s something I’ve been trying to mull over for a couple hundred swings now, and still haven’t found one that, for me, is a close comparison with just how stable these are under the hands.
How would you compare the Nexus Black to the Linq M40x white?

I don’t think I can.

I know, that’s an annoying answer from me, but it’s a very different kind of stability. Under the hands this is moreso to me, but not as much in the mid to tip section I think?

I’ll have to tip the white I’ve got in the office (garage haha) and compare them better. I’ll tip it up tonight!!

I have played the Ventus Blue TR for a couple of years which has a stiff butt section, which I like. It sounds like the TR would be a great comparison if any of the testers have one in hand. I would personally be interested in this comparison and results.

So I can appreciate the comparisons are hard, but in general, what does more stability in the hands do for golfers and their swings? Or what feels and sensations does that stability give you?

It all depends on what kind of transition the person has, I do think in this small sample it’s letting me be more aggressive so far. That could be simply because I think in my mind I need to be with the feel, or, it could be the feel of stability freeing things up a bit.

No problem.... I was just throwing it out there that it may be a closer comparison, I figured you have hit that one lol

Skytrak booked tonight .... will get some Denali vs Nexus Comparisons!

**edit: change of plans

I liken the blue to a nice fly fishing cast. :ROFLMAO:

It gave consistency. At least on day one of using it. I’ve mentioned my incredibly wrists swing with no backswing, and the nexus blue calmed everything down

What’s the best way to compare a shaft to shaft? 5 swings with each and alternate? 10 swings? Alternate each swing?

I personally do about 10 but if you hit 5 normal shots with each that would probably be sufficient

1st time swinging the Nexus black tonight and I was swinging on a skytrak.

Little about me and my swing with driver. I would consider it my best/favorite in the bag. I typically swing normal around 180-185 ball speed. If I want to get after it I will get up to the 190-195 range. I love to play a fade and aim down the left side of the fairway but last year my miss was a weak pull hook , so I would aim middle fairway and hit it both ways.

I warmed up tonight to get my swing right and what felt normal and irons felt really good.. then when I got to driver I started with my Denali black and was struggling..hitting low left draws was struggling to swing through and away which is why my miss happens.

So even with the poor swing I switch out to the Nexus black. 1st swing I was like whoa that’s different.I can see what @Jman
Is saying about it being different then anything else he has tried. You can definitely feel the stiffness in the hands but the activeness on the lower part is more than I was expecting. A connected feel but active also. My low left hooks turned into higher 5-10 yard draws. With ease and still feeling like I put the same swing on the ball.

It was a wild sensation. Feeling like i still was struggling through my swing but somehow the Nexus was timing it up better.. it felt like the Nexus was giving me better forgiveness in a way.

Either way this was my 1st impression when I felt like my swing with the driver was not the best. As of now, I’m very happy with what I saw.

Here are 2 drives with the Nexus black matched up with the ai smoke TD 9* and then using a CTX

Love to see that instant change in results from a swap. Seems like maybe the face just didn't want to slam shut for whatever reason.

Have a round scheduled this afternoon. Looking forward to getting some more feedback on the Nexus Blue. Forecast says wind 20-30mph with 40+mph gusts, so it should be a fun test to try flighting shots depending whether I'm with or against.

Ya I dont know if I have had that happen before.. typically if my swing is off in that way where I am pull hooking the ball .,.. its off and shaft doesn't matter. I switched and Started hitting a better ball flight and even bad swings went a lot straighter

Remind me which flex and weight you're working with here?
