True Temper Steelfiber Nexus

I always felt the linq shafts (I'm playing the white) were ones where I could feel the load/unload a lot better than others. I do like the point about smooth feel and moderate transition as that seems like something I could get along with pretty well. Are you having a tough time turning over the nexus, or is that just by comparison the linq blue is easier to turn over? Was the dispersion generally tighter than the linq blue or about the same?
It did feel tougher to turn the Nexus over. I by no means try to play a draw so it’s already tough for me to do. Something interesting is I felt like I hit it higher on the face with the Nexus than the LinQ

I only had one session with it but i would say I didn’t turn it over as much as my Denali

Only got to hit this twice on the course today, but the good results continue. Feeling a lot of confidence still with the Nexus Black + Elyte combo. The Steelfiber doesn’t make it feel literally like an iron shaft, but there’s kind of an adjacent feeling of the shaft sticking with me the whole swing like my favorite iron shaft does.

That is an interesting comparison, never really thought about it compared to an iron shaft. I will have to remember that next time I hit it

I feel like you could have a more aggressive transition with the LinQ. Next time I’m out I’ll really be aggressive with both and get some better feedback in that regard. I was trying to make decent contact today.
Swing your swing and have fun with it!

How is the ball flight?

Launch?

Carry?

Carry?
I’m not really seeing a departure in ball flight from the blue profiles I was playing before. So on a sim I’m seeing my typical 15 launch, 2400 spin, 158 ball speed type numbers. I am turning the ball over which is my typical shot and miss, but on the occasion I want to intentionally hit a fade I’ve been able to. Carry is still a little hard to judge because it’s still been windy every time out, but I seem to be more or less carrying it in the places I expect at my home course. If anything I seem to be hitting it longer just from keeping it in play a little better, but driver head is certainly contributing to that too. My avg and P-avg distance are up from March of last year, but there’s a grain of salt there with how variable things can be this time of year.

As I suspected the launch angle is lower.
I have no idea how to decipher numbers but I was switching back and forth between the Tensei and This the Nexus Blue. Small sample of maybe 50 swings between the two.
Top is tensei
Bottom is Nexus Blue

Edit: also 220 yards!!! @Parrot …my new record ( since I’ve started measuring such things in 2022)

99.9999% of my rounds are outdoors so mid week coming up, I’ll have some eyeball thoughts, height shape etc. one more go indoors before then though.

How did the two compare feel wise?

Feel wise, the feedback on the Nexus blue was immediate. I knew when it was a good one.
The standard Tensei doesn’t give the same instant feedback of knowing the shot I took. It’s much more “all shots feel decent”. Not always a bad thing

The Nexus requires more focus on the shot at hand. I felt like I was getting to the ball too quickly? Until I got the timing down. Then the payoff was insane consistency. 2 of 3 shots went the EXACT same distance. Wild.

Wow some pretty big differences in numbers on some of those select shots - spin, ball speed. How does the overall avgs look?

Are you feeling like the nexus is helping with timing and making better contact?

It’s funny, the timing was the concern at first. But so far the contact has been better overall. I feel like the consistency so far is the feel that I’m in control of the top of the shaft the whole way through.

Once I got it grooved, the differences at least in the distance and spin were remarkable. And it was an apples to apples tryout. I had the bay to myself so I was able to take 5 or 6 shots, swap out and put the other shaft back in.

also, I’m going to go to Sim again and not worry about individual shots so I can snap the averages for the 55r Tensei and the steelfiber 50g Nexus blue without the clutter of individual shots to get a better idea of overall before taking it to the course.

Nexus black was a WEAPON today in our tournament as well as the bonus 9 I played after.

@Pops got to see, it’s a combo I can swing HARD at

The drive on 18 was hit if so hard.

Have any of you that are testing this played Steefiber iron shafts. I am wondering if you like the i95 irons that this driver shaft would be a good fit.

These are honestly, imo, nothing at all like the SF iron shafts. They take a small piece of that with a layer under the hands, but that’s it.

I’m actually pretty thankful they’re nothing like those if I’m being honest, as my track record with the iron shafts is a long and turbulent one.

It really was. I had a few of those yesterday just on ropes. Initial flight is flatter, which I’m loving right now, especially since it let me loft the K to 8

I know a lot of people don’t like the SF iron shafts but they work for me. I wasn’t sure where the SF material is in the iron shafts but I know they feel stable in the tip for me and reading that the material was in the hands of the driver shaft I wasn’t sure if it would be good for someone that really likes the iron shafts.

In the irons, it’s in/on the entire shaft.

To me, I guess you could say there is a familiar stability under the hands, but it’s a very different overall experience. A very good experience, at that.

The biggest thing, imo, is making sure people don’t just think this is a continuation of the iron shafts. This is a driver shaft which applies some of the steelfiber material/tech to stabilize/tighten things under the hands. Much different than the old SF wood shafts too.

The flight of the K model head set at 8 combined with the Nexus shaft might be the vest overall flight combo I’ve seen you hit.

Nexus Black continues to handle everything I throw at it. Only had 2 swings today that I’d call normal. A lot of the others were kind of choked down and/or flighted because I was between driver and 3W. Also had one I took left to right that turned out great. In line with the “iron shaft adjacent” feel I mentioned recently, I haven’t really had a driver I felt comfortable with those knockdown type shots until this one.

Things are sounding good!! Have you seen any negatives yet?
