I’m of the mindset that he is figuring out what he has. Thai is the first camp with all the “stars” present.

So far imo Arfsten isn’t a defender, Sargent isn’t an option as the 9. If I had to start an XI it would be

Freese
| Richard’s | Ream | Jedi | Dest
Adams | Zendejas | Luna
Pulisic | Weah | Balogun

plays and play subs from this base

I think so bc I would run a diamond middle and have weah and balogun run as dual 10’s with a 9 mentality. Lest Christian and Luna be creative and have Zendejas and Adams be your holding mids.

This allows you to let Jedi and Dest be more of a dual threat and use their athleticism to push or counter

I don’t know Zendejas game well enough to know how he profiles but I like that thinking

I have no idea on how to view this performance as we are facing Japan’s backups (11 new players started) and have not really threatened while they’ve had two dangerous chances Freese had to bail us out of

About time Z got some run. Still flummoxed why one of the best in Liga MX took this long for a run

I’ve decided I’m okay for turnover this window. After this one, we better have a first choice or thereabouts lineup on hand

That said Balogun just scored and this lineup has shown more creativity and speed than anything Poch has sent out

I’ll say it, I like Roldan in midfield.
 
So if we go back three, is Jedi the left back or left wingback? And can Ream play the right center back?

If we go three in the back Ream has to be the center back bc he’s too slow to be on the outside. I personally would like a back line of
Dest, Richards, Ream, Jedi
Let the midfield be Roldán, Zendejas, Adams, Arfsten
Then play dual false 9’a with Balo and Pulisic

Three in the back scares me and I have a bad feeling it won’t work when we need it to

I watched this one and they dominated. The U-20 squad has some talent that bodes well for the senior squad

but that's quibbling around the edges, as it should be right?

(And I don't disagree, McGlynn's service is special and can/should be utilized at the back of the roster)

my only complaint is why not have this group or core (considering the Pulisic fiasco) as the teams you've been rolling out. I know I am biased, but it should not have taken this long to get Zendejas called up

Agree on Z, never understood that on either coach.

That said, I don't mind exploring the pool this past year. The team was stale and need a shakeup. Not being called in makes players wake up a bit I would imagine.

As long as the right conversations are being had behind the scenes I don't need to know all the details. Guys like Z you risk losing him bc he gave up Mexican citizenship in hopes of playing for the national team. Players like that I hope are getting as much clarification so they don;t lose interest or feel slighted.
