USA Men's Soccer National Team

NBC and USA aren’t though.

And La Liga gets mainline as well as streaming. Hell, El Classico is regularly on ABC.
I don’t think going to Apple with landscape trends wasn’t inherently a poor decision. But making that deal while also putting it behind a second paywall, like it was initially, was really shortsighted in my opinion.

Do you have Apple TV at all today? At least now it's not behind a second paywall like a few seasons ago.

Get Apple TV for your movies or sitcoms, and you have full access to any MLS game.
No Apple TV. I know that's where they are, but its another service to pay for.

Alexi Lalas is part of the old guard mindset that is keeping US Soccer held back. He's actually an embarrassment to the sport within the US. People need to stop putting a microphone in his face. He has continued to fail upwards his entire career and this World Cup should be the final straw.

Should be…but won’t be 😔

He wasn’t even part of the old guard. He was a beard and haircut. A sideshow.

Sebastian Berhalter being held out of leagues games. Unclear if a hold out or intentional being on the verge of a European move

I saw this last night and wondered the same thing. I had not heard any concrete rumors but the way he played I can see him in Europe sooner rather than later.

I can understand on some level outside distractions, but if this is the reason the team melted and played like **** then they are softer than I imagined.

It's never their fault. Bunch of spoiled babies the lot of em.

BJ Callahan isn't soft.

I agreed on that. I know we are wading into the political territory, so I will be as careful as possible and say the call shouldn't have happened; FIFA handled the entire situation from the call itself to everything that happened afterwards in a horrible fashion; and the guy that called should have never acknowledged it happened.

I agree. Regardless of who or how the call happened, for the team to be bothered so much that it impacts their play on the field is soft, and that is on the manager for letting that permeate through the team.

It's an us vs. the world scenario that should bring a team together and make them go out and play mad.

Exhibit 678 why coaches of national teams should be from that country. They can better navigate off field stuff.

Fun fact, since 1978, no non-native coaches have made a World Cup final, let alone win the thing.

I read that stat at the end of the World Cup and found it interesting

I'm conflicted. On one hand I think this is the right move given when he came in the last window, but I do not like how he let the team melt down against Belgium. I don't care what the external factors are, as a manager you need to get the team together and push them forward to a singular focus. His lack of leadership in that moment really bothered me.

When you combine the fact his team laid an egg in their biggest game with the record of second cycle coaches…. I’m skeptical.

I almost would have preferred it to just run two years

This smacks of "the right job" not being on offer to him yet. If one of his desired destinations becomes available, does he stay? I think it unlikely. But for the sake of the next cycle, let us hope it's sooner rather than later

I’d be very curious what the buyout is for said right offer

I think he missed the window of the major jobs he could have taken with how deep they ran into the WC.

Ultimately if the product on the pitch is the same or better I am happy he is staying. We need some consistency with how we want to play, his style and getting more players into the system. I don't want a roster of the same players because of name recognition and a big part of his success will be getting the younger talent involved and making sure some of the duel nationals commit to playing for the USA.

If he does this, we will be okay
