Vortex Anarch Rangefinder Review

Also a huge deal, 100% waterproof and no worries if something goes wrong that they replace it...FOREVER.
If it is a downpour, the Bushnell needs to go into hiding.
Its funny. Having experience with Vortex customer service previously when I saw they were jumping into the golf space. I immediate thought of this and how awesome their customer service is. There are few companies that take it that far.

Is it simply to change the spot of where it hangs?
Maybe? I doesn't affect me since its on the cart usually but every time I see it hanging oddly on the bag it bugs me haha

Sometimes it can be a hard lesson to learn the difference between waterproof and water resistant

Yes, moving that a half inch higher would solve everything
Seems like a simple fix that can easily be addressed in future offerings.

That's why I keep posting about it. We know they are reading. Anything to make the overall product better is our goal!

If you could design the perfect case.. What would it look like?

This is so true. As shown by my photo from staff retreat being able to leave the Anarch on the cart during the rain was awesome.

I haven't been out to golf in awhile, hopefully this week. But I did have a chance to use my old Bushnell binoculars Sunday at The Masters. They are an older pair so I know its not hard to believe how much better the optics are in the Vortex Anarch and its really not a fair comparison but you certainly do come to appreciate the crystal clear optics you get from the Anarch. I wish they allowed rangefinders there or I would have definitely brought it!

This case just as an example. Let it it open slightly wider when it's fully unzipped to be able to reach in and get the rangefinder out easier, and then move the connection hook up .5-.75 inches higher and I think it would be perfect. Easier to get the rangefinder in and out of and it will sit much better on the bag at all times without risk of bumps on a cart or pushcart/motor cart to make it fall out if you don't bungee it closed every time

Would you prefer more of a pouch? Or do you like the more full zip semi hard case?

I am not sure I have much of a preference at the moment.
I only have such a strong preference cause I've had one with a soft sided case that clasped and it would constantly turn on the unit and hit buttons and drain the battery. And if it every got wet it would just soak up all the moisture and be disgusting

To add some thoughts about the case, I love it except for where the clip hangs from. If it was off the top edge I think it would solve the issue, but the case itself is solid imo.

Some other thoughts regarding pin lock, from my trip to Florida a week or so back, the unit was flawless. At my home course this morning I had a few pin locks that were off, and a few instances that the pin lock wouldn’t activate at all. I was getting accurate measurements without the pin lock, and an after a few tries sometimes it would lock. The other instances were weird where I was getting pin lock and I wasn’t even over the pin. Trying to see what is throwing the Anarch off in the instances but it seems like it occurs when there is little separation between the flag and background. I also wonder if the flags at my home course just don’t vibe well with the anarch pin lock 🤔

Alright. This is really a hard ponder now. The stabilization feature is something I’m very intrigued by. That’s been a concern for me with every rangefinder I use to date, is having to shoot several times because I get a bit shaky.

So this solves that exceptionally well?

Thats the very reason I stopped using my old rangefinder. The Anarch is super smooth and you will love how steady it is with the stabilization!

I've seen that a bit more recently. I don't question the distances in the slightest, but I'm not getting that haptic feedback of the actual pin lock

Dude. Absolutely, yes

You 100% won’t be disappointed.

I think you would love it. I am sure other brands have image stabilization. But vortex offers a complete package with the magnesium chassis and unbeatable customer service and super good glass.

I’m letting a buddy borrow mine to see if he wants to get one. He stopped by earlier to pick it up and we stepped into the front yard so I could show him what it can do. We compared it to my shot scope to shoot a car that was about 343 yards away. It was shooting in between some trees and I picked those up a few times instead of the car with the shot scope. With the Anarch I didn’t pick those up and only got the car which I got at 343 each time and the car was not moving all around even at that distance. The shot scope was quite shaky and the number bounced from 342-345.

What are the testers thoughts about navigating the menu?
I hadn’t messed with it that much but did today so thank could show my buddy how it works as I’m going to let him borrow it for the weekend. At first I was just switching between the brightness until I reread that you have to press the measure button before holding down the menu button. Once I did that it made sense and is pretty easy to use. I like how when changing the slope on or off you can actually see out of the corner or your eye the green light turning on or off.
