Other than those with standing tee times, do you check the weather forecast before booking in advance?

We have to book a week in advance for weekend tee times. Midnight for the best times and by 8 am the rest of the morning is booked up. It got me thinking. As of last weekend, today was supposed to be warm and humid with showers and storms all afternoon. We booked for Sunday. Now the forecast was still warm and humid today but just a scattered storm tonight. Tomorrow, however is heavy rain in the morning and showers through the early afternoon.

Before the covid boom, we could book on a Wednesday or Thursday when the forecast was a bit clearer!

Nope. I book our tee times 2 weeks ahead, unless there's some apocalyptic weather event in the forecast they all get booked and we'll cancel day before if we need to.

Yesterday's forecast was thunderstorms all morning, and it was raining with thunder and lightning when I left home to head for the course. It was windy and raining on us on the first tee and we could see lightning a few miles away - an hour later it was sunny (although grossly humid).

I make my tee times 7 days in advance. I ignore the forecast b/c it usually ends up being wrong.

Usually yes. Luckily my regular course is generally quiet enough that we can make tee times the day before or often even the same day. Makes for a more accurate weather forecast.

50/50 but we also have online up to 4 hours before to cancel so the night before I usually make the call

I do, but usually only know if I can play 2-3 days out, sometimes less.

I watch for extreme heat mainly here.
I don't tolerate the 105* temps like I did a few years ago.

In the winter yes...but that is usually the morning we plan to play. A lot of fair weather golfers up here and weather forecasting is an "art".

I book everything 15 days in advance, and cancel the day before if needed.

Boy I wish I had an empty course to book haha

I'm in the same boat. I'm the tee time guy for my group. and similar to you, we have to book (and often pay) as soon as tee times open up 7 days before to get a good time.

So it's often looking at the extended forecast and trying to make the best decision. It's a roll of the dice. Today was supposed to be the nicer day of the weekend so I booked it. Then heavy t-storms dumped a ton of rain on the metroplex last night that was not in the forecast last weekend.

Like you, I miss the old days of being able to book a tee time a few days before.

As a member at my course, I can and do make my tee times 30 days out. The weather is and will be what it is.

Yes I pay attention to the weather forecast before booking a tee time. I've never booked more than 2 days in advance though 😅

If I’m where I need to. Up here in the mountains it’s first come first serve, checked Thursday and still got wet. Things happen.

Boy I wish I had an empty course to book haha
My course's tee sheet is wide open any time after about 8:30am all summer long. As long as you don't mind playing in 110°+ degree heat, the course is all yours!

I play in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania (mostly in the Poconos). I definitely check the long-range forecast repeatedly over several days on multiple weather services before reserving a tee time.

If it gets hot at some of the inland courses, say 100+, we might avoid it. Other than that, there is not many days where weather plays a part here in Dego.

I walked a couple times last week where temps were 95 and a bit humid for here. Y’all down there in the south/southeast can have your sticky weather back.

I can usually wait a couple of days but the MGA has taken almost all of my favorite tee times for Saturday mornings so I work around them right now.
As far as weather goes I schedule and hope for the best. I will cancel if it’s looking too bad or if I have my son with me and it’s raining but otherwise I still go.

We always check weather before booking and if will influence us some, but if we want to play, we book anyway and hope for the best. If we need to cancel because of rain, we certainly will.
If we don't have to play in the rain, we generally will not.

Not really

That's the nice thing of having over 300 days of sunshine a year. Hardly ever worry about weather

I can usually book 3 days out and have zero issues. Forcast for me depends on the course I want to play. My nicer courses are about 1500 feet higher elevation that what I already play and the wind is brutal with any type of weather. The course in the other direction doesn't really dry out to well.

Downpour all day here yet people are coming in to play…. I’ll take their $350 but the greens are puddles and the fairways are like lakes.
