@JB had a hot take on Caddyshack that I don’t disagree with. Got me thinking about my favorite golf movie.

Tin Cup feels like the chalk pick, so I’ll throw out another I really like called The Long Game. Stumbled upon it on Netflix one night and thought it had a very solid story line. Great cast of actors as well including Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quade and Cheech Marin.

So caddyshack isn't an option then?

Caddyshack. I still laugh every time at Dangerfield's " free bowl of soup" comment.

I like a lot about Tin Cup but can't stand Kevin Costner. I like Happy Gilmore but a little less than Caddyshack.

Second vote for The Greatest Game Ever Played.

Tin cup and it’s not close for me.

Probably not my favorite: but Bagger Vance is utterly watchful

It’s Tin Cup. In fact Tin Cup is numbers 1-5 on the top golf movies list.

The greatest game ever played.

Bagger Vance isn't far behind

Though my hot take would be Happy Gilmore over Caddyshack

Caddyshack and its not close. So funny, numerous quotable lines even after 45 years, several great characters (Ty Webb, Judge Smails, Carl Spackler, Al Czervik, Dannny Noonan, Lacey Underall, The Bishop, Spaulding). Its a cult classic for a reason.

I feel like I have seen Tin Cup and Happy Gilmore too many times to judge. Some golf movies are combined with comedy and do a good job with this combo. Happy Gilmore has "a lot". From what I see, Happy Gilmore 2 is gonna be worse. If Bagger Vance or Greatest Game Ever Played is on at the time, I will watch.

"The Greatest Game Ever Played"

Caddyshack and its not that close.
Yes it's campy but most movies from that era are.

The Greatest Game Ever Played for me.

I like Tin Cup a lot too, honestly every golf movie is ok except for Caddyshack 2.

Happy Gilmore of course.

Tin Cup is what you would call a good bad movie.

It's actually very watchable and kinda fun.

That being said it's not like a cinematic masterpiece of anything. The ending still doesn't make sense to me (why did the other golfers think she did a good job as his therapist? He learned nothing).

But there's not a lot to choose from with golf movies. Most of them are like, The Squeeze, which is horifically bad.

Dead Solid Perfect.

Dead Solid Perfect.
Came here to say this. Good story with believable golf scenes. Randy Quaid really was a good actor back before he went insane.

Happy Gilmore for laughs.

The Greatest Game Ever Played for drama.

And Tin Cup because it's awesome.
