What’s your motivation in golf?

I know that I can play well. I just want to do it regularly.. It can be very hit or miss.

1: Exercise with purpose

2: socializing without the stress of “real life”

Honestly, right now the motivation is to not let down my yet un-named partner at Shaft Up 2.
Before that, to keep improving getting as much to share during a review year.
Before that, to not let me teammates down.

Overall, the every day goal is to get out and have fun, but the end goal is to be able to feel like I put in the best effort I could at an event.

For me it’s knowing I’ll never be perfect but each time out I have opportunity to try and chase it.

Mostly motivated by having fun and enjoying the company of great friends

I dont really have one. I have most likely peaked in my golf career skill wise and Im ok with that. Getting sub 4 handicap was a goal of mine. I have traveled the country playing in crazy experiences on courses I couldnt imagine playing. I am not one who really enjoys practicing and right now in life, my time available for just me is much less than it was a decade ago.

Maybe it changes once the kids are out of the house?

My motivation right now is to try and get better. I want to try and keep up w/ @JB in our singles match next month.

Overall it's just to have fun and playing better = more fun.

I am not chasing perfection, but rather a swing free of bad shots. I hit thousands upon thousands of balls pursuing a simple concept: I hit the ball, the ball goes exactly where I think it should. A lot of lonely hours on the range, on the course, in my practice area at home, and in various SIMs have been spent to attain the unattainable. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love this game.

I love competition, and golf gives me a way that I can still compete with others when I can’t play baseball or other sports anymore.

To make the damn ball do what I want it too! ( Just kidding, that was when I was younger )
My motivation is to enjoy my time outside and execute shots I know I can make.
I have a neurological disorder that is slowly robbing me of my athletic finesse, so I'm just trying to have fun.

It's hard being motivated at this point. I'm playing very little golf, due to responsibilities with my business.

I've pretty much decided that this will be either my last year of work (at which time, i'll play a LOT more golf)
OR
It will be my last year of golf until i do retire (aside from the odd charity scramble here and there)
There is no world in which they can co-exist with any sort of real balance. Sux to say but.... that's the way it is.

As it was typing this, i rec'd a text from my wife that she is re-joining her ladies league this season, after a year off due to some physical issues.
I'm very happy for her.... at least one of us is going to enjoy some golf :ROFLMAO:

To represent THP, to the best of my ability, as a member of #OurTime at the 2025 Grandaddy of 'Em All

I play almost every round with my son who's an 8 handicap. He gives me 1 per side and I don't want to lose or be given more strokes!

Ultimate goal is to get back to scratch. Short term goal is to be more consistent and get used to competition again.

For me, it’s having something to play for.

This year is the first one in a while with the MC looming, so that’s helped push me to practice again, which is nice. At the same time, the events at my club also motivate, it’s a way to show people out there that just because I’m still on the new side membership wise, it doesn’t mean I can’t play.
Competing in club tournaments is the main one for me. It's not about winning (though it does make it better) but just being competitive and in the mix at the end. I'm also competing with myself in normal rounds and always have the thought on the first tee of could this be the day I tie or beat my PB.

To get to a point where I can say "I'm not bad at this game, eh?"

Enjoy playing with awesome people and spending time with my son every weekend.

I am going to work this summer to really work on my game and get better.

The hope for improvement and consistently lower scores - even if it’s just a small change for the better.

I don’t know that motivation is the right word but I just really love golf. I wish it loved me back more often. I really want to break 80 more often, though lately my goal should probably be more to break 90.

Keep
up? Hahahah nobody does

Age, how much more can I play before, well ya can't.

That’s kind of two answers. Golfing in general I just want to get out and play while hopefully putting a decent round down. Having a crappy injury streak makes me just appreciate being out there. However, my APT tournaments I come wanting to contend/win every single time. When I play those events I come in with a totally different cut throat mentality. Plus I love beating a heavy favorite/ person that dominates and trying to take their place/dethrone them.

I like this attitude a lot

I started walking this year to accomplish #1

#2 I completely agree with

I played competitive sports since i was 6, it is just something i need to have other than work. I play because i want to be really good at something and compete in it.

I love golf obviously, but i really want to be the best i can at it also
