What Are You Working On?

Working on ( its raining and home with mind running amuck ) finding our why of my 6 modern Drivers they all hit and feel differently. Experimenting with different Grips, Swing Weight and total Club Weight and of course the Shaft - right now the Gold Medal is going to the Callaway Rogue. - so changing the other Drivers to the exact same SW and CW and and same shaft to see if any of them can duplicate the Rogue Performance. - like I say got nuthing else to do.

Working on keeping my eyes on line aiming for short putts under 7 feet. Don’t move my eyes until ball is in the cup or just before it enters the cup
Longer putts keeping my grip loose and doing my preputt routine. Crouch, relax the arms, breathing through nose and releasing air through the mouth.

Working on moving the ball from right to left (which is a draw for me since I’m right handed). Working on shallowing the club and making sure the club face is square at impact.

Really ramped up for the season this week as I’ve taken more swings in the past 3 days than I have since November combined. Swing feels good but hitting a fade which I don’t like to see so today worked on a towering baby draw I had towards the end of last year. Just have to work on keeping the trailing elbow tucked and avoid a long takeaway.

Trying to get motivated to get back on the course, wanting to try out something new. Have had my same set up for about 3 years now.

Not leaving the face open relative to the club path with driver. I got so obsessed that I was over the top, that I developed a huge in to out path, but was still leaving the face wide open. Start left spin left became the big miss. I have straightened out path so that it’s now slight in to out, but it’s a conscious effort to make sure the face is in a good position

Had a great lesson last night. Working on how I am starting my downswing. Not with the arms, or chest but with the lead heel. Has been really helpful in not jerking my arms and also starting my weight shift

Putts under 7 feet. I feel this is similar to making free throws in basketball. High percentage should go in once good routine is developed
I align my shoulders Then my eyes.
Generally straight line putts most of the time

Short putts under 5 feet. I been lining up with the putter toe for straight putts and 95% effective for me.
For the other 5 % it misses when I have more than 2% slope R to L Then have to aim out side the cup Change my shoulder alignment and grip and freeing up my right arm helps to make those breakers I’m not 100% comfortable with

More putting work
I notice when I’m making my short putts. I don’t watch and follow the ball into the hole.
There’s a delay (I watch the ball into the hole in my minds eye )then I turn my head and either the ball drops in or about too

Thought we should have a sticky thread at the top of this section talking a bit about the golf swing and what each of you are currently working on. Obviously if you have a question or want to share a tip, a new thread makes the most sense, but this could be a great place to drop something from a recent lesson or that doesn't fit anywhere else.
Hm, probably letting my left arm bend a little an proper load.

I find when I let my lead arm bend I get much smoother swing..I just am still in the phase of needing to think about it.

Swing path is still my primary focus.

Seem to be making good progress with my driver & fairways, and so I'm looking to also "improve" my irons.

I do come down steep with them, and I'm hitting my irons really well despite that but there must be some funky manipulation in there to achieve a good result - including an early extension. The contrast between my irons and woods was that with my woods I couldn't square the face up. Now with an improved driver path I have two very very different swings and my brain is too active with thoughts hence the need to get my irons shallower and to reduce that early extension.

Getting there but I'm hitting my low point behind the ball about 30% of the time - and that's where the effort needs to go in.

See the ball drop in the cup in my mind ( off the outside edge or drops in from the front edge )
See the trajectory of the shot in my mind( fade or draw)

Working at lot on putting.
Short putts I’m dial in my eyes line up with line on the ball
Long putts I’m scanning the cup location/butt end on my putter /drawing a line to the putter face. Depending on the putter. My last look can be either the spot on the ground /butt end of the putter or the putter face

Develop left hand pain whenever I overdo it
My left hand is too weak position. It’s fine weak left hand grip for short game but I look at my videos and the whip and speed of the swing too forceful and my left hand takes some of brunt of the force unless its in a strong position
Analogy in tennis one handed backhand it’s more effective to use an eastern BH grip. Eastern BH grip is the same concept as a strong lead hand grip on the golf club Need to turn the lead arm over

Higher hands at the top of the back swing to promote mire of a vertical swing plane vs the "round the body" i default into when tired.

Weakness is my full iron shots and long putts
Always will be no matter how much I practice.
I love the rest of my game

I used to have a ridiculously forward press -open shoulder- 80% of my weight on my front foot- address position

Ive been working on getting it more centered and shoulders squared

Man i think im doing it n then i check a mirror and im still like 20 degrees open with the shoulders

How long will this take to settle in?!? Its been like 4 months n still going back to open shoulders at address

I hate it cuz it makes my clubhead suck way in on the takeaway cuz im so out of position from the get go

Man swing changes are bish

Not so much swing related, although the avoidance of toe strikes is ever present at the moment. The real thing I am working on right now is what should be in my bag for the tournament season. I have had a few clubs arrive that are making strong contenders for replacing clubs I have loved for a while.

Grip. Due to bad arthritis I have been holding the club too much in the palms, not in the fingers.

Most immediate goal is becoming less of a dirty, no-good hooker. Hoping midsize grips helps that process a little

Update: midsize is very helpful
Next two big steps are
1) driver angle of attack. Hitting on the downswing slightly. That would explain my spin numbers!
2) trying less. At everything. Less effort hitting the ball. Less effort to score. Relaxing and trusting the club to do the job. I have speed so I don't need to try. It feels very counterintuitive!

Working on keeping my follow through lower and maintaining a better posture in the swing. Had been struggling with a bit of a fade finish and slouch. Good news is my Daly swing is gone.

Still working on swing path. Some days it’s better. The last 2 rounds were not. I’ve hit a few beautiful shots but I’m square in that “worse before better” places right now I think.

Is this to promote a fade?
