What Are Your Golf Quirks?

Once we hit 85+ and heavy humidity, I rotate 3 or 4 gloves a round. I hate the feeling of a wet golf glove so I take it off after every shot and hang them on the oh **** handle or on the front cart top support.

• no glove
• usually no practice swings
• like to play ready golf
• prefer playing later in day versus earlier

Besides weird or colourful shirts, I got nothing.

Bucket hat and sleeves for all summer rounds. I look like a doofus but skin care is important to me.

Okay now this is a golf quirk!

Why is that?
Had what I called a “wandering thumb” on my left hand (Keep it clean, guys). Many years ago, I tried rocking a glove on the left hand and it helped. I also used to get some blisters on that thumb, but no longer…

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “you know your glove is on the wrong hand, right?”

Really interesting! I won't ask what a wandering thumb is though lol

Not really quirky, but I am organized and everything is the same for each round. Ball, tee, marker and pitch repair tool in front front pocket. Yardage book / scorecard holder back left rear and glove back right pocket when putting (never wear it putting, feels weird to me). Speaker right hand side of cart, GPS and towel left hand side. All of that is just habit.

I do play ready golf, but I will never step in front of a birdie (not counting forward tees with the ladies)

Most quirky is probably when playing my ball - push cart or riding cart needs to be on the right hand side of the ball when I hit. I can't have it behind me.

I pick up unbroken tees - way too often. I like to start the round, with 3 tees, marker, ball repair tool and 2 balls in my pocket. Everything else other than remote is in the bag. It's funny, as by the end of the round, I often have closer to 8-10 tees in the pocket.

Edit, Also, I try to police the tee box of broken tees in about a 3 foot area from my teed up ball.

Hmmm, I'm petty particular about having things in the "right" pockets. Phone back right, 1 long tee and one short tee along with divot tool and ball marker in front right.

Don’t know if this is a quirk or just OCD but whether or not I’m walking with a cart, just out right walking carrying my stand bag or riding in a golf cart I have to have my bag, cart or golf cart at my back when I’m at address, can’t have any of them in my front view, and also at the Tee Box when I place the Tee & Ball down I can’t have a broken Tee or loose divots/dirt in my eye sight anywhere around my Teed up Ball. Weird I know but these are the main 2 and the things I do all the time

I genuinely believe (and nobody will change my mind) that most (not all, most) golfers take it off because they believe you are a supposed to, not because of any thing related to feel.
I definitely have better feel with my glove off, but I also take my glove off a lot between shots as it helps keep my hand from getting sweaty, thus the glove stays drier.

Clean clubs. I hate dirt/grass on the face or in the grooves.

I wear sunglasses everywhere when I'm outdoors, but I can't wear them while hitting a golf ball. They're on my hat and I'll sometimes put them on while walking/riding between shots, but they always come off when it's time to actually hit the ball.

I am sure that I do have golf quirks, but am very unaware of what they are. Maybe that I like my driver and woods toward the front of the cart when riding.

Front left pocket: eye glass wipe
Front right pocket: chapstick.
*phone but it's very rare and usually in the cart.
Back left pocket: glove
Back right pocket: two tees, extra ball , ball marker.

Ready golf.
Score card marked up pretty good to help edit post round.

@jordiee explain the two 52’s
One length king tech x(hollow body and 7i shaft length) carries 115.

Vokey 52 carries 105.

Just good for gapping in my current setup.

I never carry an extra ball to the tee because I feel it’s my way of showing I don’t have confidence to not hit it in play. If it’s only one ball the pressure is on me to commit to keeping it in play. I also only carry tees in my pockets. everything else stay in the cart or bag.

Nothing in the back pockets. Wallet, phone, keys, etc all go in the bag. I can't stand anything in my back pockets.

I will not play a ball that is scuffed or has any imperfections on the cover.

I use an app to track my scoring, and I will not check my round score until I have put in what I got on #18. Learned this lesson long ago, and it pays off.

Same. I always have three gloves hanging from the cart and rotate to a different one every hole(one gets used every third hole, I keep them in order) I take my glove off between every shot.

I’m not really sure I have anything that’s all that unconventional when it comes to golf. I can say though, that I’m decently superstitious so like doing certain things a particular way the next round if I played well.
