If you look under Taylormade customized options for their irons on their website, they offer the standard Dart graphite shaft but they also offer a Dart "T". I haven't noticed this before, so I wonder if it is a new offering. The Dart "T" has a lower torque rating compared to the standard Dart on Taylormade's site. Could this be similar to the Dart V shaft? They are charging a little more for this option.

Specs seem to be close to the regular Dart 90/105. higher torque than the Dart V.

Looks to be website error, should be cheaper upcharge and its likely the Dart 90s

Funny you bring this up. A month or so ago I emailed customer service about it. I actually just emailed them again today to once again ask them what their problem is lol…

Here is the old conversation…

Me: I see when I go to customize the p770 irons that the UST Recoil Dart 90 shaft is a $45 up-charge, while all the other options are a $15 up-charge. Some retailers are only charging the $15 cost, which is also reflected in TaylorMades own custom components book available on the website. Is there any reason why TaylorMade is charging a $45 up-charge for something thats listed as a $15 up-charge in their own book?

Them: Thanks for reaching out today! Unfortunately, our custom component book needs to be updated as all pricing for shafts is accurate on our website. At this point in time, the UST shafts you are referring to are sitting at a $5 up-charge. We hope this helps clear things up! All the best, Team TaylorMade

Me: Ah okay, thanks for the clarification! One last thing….when I select the recoil Dart 90 shafts, it shows the stiff flex as 90 grams and the regular flex as 78 grams in the table that pops up. Is that accurate? Reason I ask is because that doesn't make much sense since it’s the Dart “90” and UST Mamiyas website lists the Dart 90 as still being 90 grams, even in regular flex. Thank you

Them: Thanks for reaching back out. The Recoil Dart 90 in the regular flex is still 90 grams. The shaft that may be showing is the Recoil dart 75 which is 68 grams.

And the new conversation I started today…

Me: About a month back I sent a message asking about the $45 upcharge for recoil Dart 90 stiff shafts in a set of P770 irons I want to order. I was confused because the 2025 custom component book stated it was a $15 upcharge like most of the other graphite shafts. The very nice representative informed me that the $45 upcharge was correct, and TaylorMade needed to update their price in the component book. I did not order because of this. Now, the custom component book has been updated for 2026, and it still says the Dart 90s are only a $15 upcharge. Furthermore, every other online retailer lists the upcharge as only $15. I could order through those retailers, but I would prefer to order through TaylorMade directly. Why is TaylorMade displaying two separate prices? And why would TaylorMade charge more than its authorized retailers? I want to order your product, but Im not paying extra over the price that TaylorMade themselves lists. Will this ever be corrected one way or the other, surcharge or no surcharge?

…I’ll let you know what they say! TaylorMade needs to get their stuff together IMO, it shouldnt be this hard to spend money on their products haha…

Unfortunately even the customer service rep must be stumped. This is above their heads too.

Hope you get it resolved.

Best guess is T is for taper tip and something has gotten screwed up in their database

Most likely the case as the 90 $ 105 are Taper tips, lighter weights are parallel tip

Well, they replied….

“Thanks for reaching out to us and apologies for any confusion that has hindered you from placing your order with us. We want to get this sorted for you immediately.

The most up to date and accurate listing for the upcharges regarding the graphite recoil darts shafts will show on our website. All prices and stock have been updated there as of 2026. There are a few different Recoil Dart shaft options with two different upcharges.

Please see attached photo to confirm the information regarding your inquiry. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns at this time.

Best regards,
Team TaylorMade Golf Support”

Boo I say! 2nd swing and Carls list $15 for the Dart 90s, so Id recommend ordering there if thats what you want, like me. Im guessing the T does stand for taper tip, and the extra charge is just because they feel like it, apparently 😂

Robotic customer service response.

Really lazy work here. Whoever is in charge of that website.

I feel like I should reply with screenshots of their components book and the $15 charge and say “Please see attached photo to confirm the information regarding the pricing displayed in your updated components book” 😂

I tried to email the CEO and Marketing Officer using emails from google. Didnt work, undeliverable. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit: Now Im getting snarky and petty 😅

“Please see attached photos of the recently updated components book, confirming the $15 upcharge for the Dart 90 iron shafts. You can tell this is the most recent components book because it says on the cover that it was “Updated as of 12/02/2025”. Also, you can tell it was actually just publicly released days ago, because it has the new Qi4D driver on the cover, which was publicly released just days ago. Not sure how a components book that was released days ago is already outdated. Is there a customer support manager available that can provide a non-canned response and actually has the power to look into these issues?”

I feel like this guy now…

Doesn’t read like they really understood the issue😃 Oh well. You tried to help!

Final update for everyone. I guess theyre cool with PGA Superstore, Golf Galaxy, Carls, 2nd Swing etc all undercutting them and charging the $15 versus their $45 then 🤷🏻‍♂️ not sure why the dart 90s specifically cost them more versus the other $15 darts, but who am I!

“Thanks for your response.

We internally reached out to our product manager for you, and he confirmed that the price on our website is correct.

There are a handful of custom shafts that list differently in our component book than our website. That is because of wholesale and E-commerce differences. This instance has given us solid incentive to differentiate within our component book. Once again, the price that is listed on our website is the correct upcharge for the UST Recoil Dart 90 shaft.

We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to clear up that confusion, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you at this time.

Thanks for playing TaylorMade.

Best regards,
Team TaylorMade Golf Support”

The T is for a taper tip version of the shaft, this eliminates tip trimming and makes the shafts constant weight through the set. Taper tip graphite shafts tend to be more expensive since it takes more to make the shorter lengths the same weight as the longer lengths. KBS has two prices for the Tour Graphite iron shaft, with the taper tip version being more expensive. That’s the only explanation I could come up with.
