In light of the ban, I'm curious if any of you have plans to modify your existing belly putters into traditional putters, just change your stroke (but not anchor) and use your existing putter, or to just buy a traditional putter.

I have both style of putters and am currently using a traditional putter but I love my DART belly putter's head. I'm thinking of cutting it down and bending the shaft but I haven't looked into the steps on that yet. First I'm going to try the Kuch style and see if it feel comfortable.

What do you guys plan to do - make change or keep belly'ing until 2016?

If I still used one, I would keep using it. Beyond 2016 also. I don't play in USGA events or any event that says I can't use it. But if I were to get in something that said I couldn't anchor, then I would not anchor.

It's not as if you can't use them. You can keep anchoring for a few years as well. You'll just have to modify your putting stroke.

I don't have one, never liked them, and hated using them, but they'll still sale, for a little while any way.

2016 is a long ways away. Who knows, by then maybe I'll contract a new ponder that makes me not want to play a belly putter. If that doesn't happen, as it stands today, I am leaning toward ignoring the ban unless I play in official events, which I basically never do.

Another thought is that I may give up the belly putter for play but keep it as a training tool, as I feel like it helps me with tempo and releasing the club.

Finally, it seems possible that club companies will find a creative way to keep the clubs in use (if I was a club manufacturer I'd be looking at ways to turn this rule into a revenue stream). For example, maybe offer a service where they alter the angle of the shaft so it can be anchored against the arm. If something like that happened I'd give it real consideration.

TBD

I have never played as consistent as I do with my belly putter. Until they hand me a tour card? I will be playing my odyssey.

Hopefully I won't get escorted off the course for using it :p

I never found it to be a panacea for my putting game, but I love they alignment of the DART head and am too cheap to buy a new one ;P That's half my interest in wondering if anyone is modding theirs.

I'd say keep using it, with 2016 so far away, but if you don't want to anchor anymore, just cut it down!

I think many will investigate options like the daddy long legs from taylormade. 38" counterweighted and counter balanced. If you like your Dart cut it to 38" and play golf. The DLL is awesome.

You could expect to get hassled by purists who feel like you should play by the rules even if its just a casual round. Theres a few people I play with who would refuse to let you play with them after 2016 if you had a long putter.

Are those the same purists who take mulligans and foot wedges?

I don't use one. However ill bet I wouldn't have much fun playing with people like that anyway.

Wow, I can't believe I missed this new putter. I recall the almost belly, and I've counterweighted my Rife, so this may be the way to go.

I will continue to do with my belly putter what I currently do. Let it sit in the corner collecting dust because the darned thing doesn't work for me.

But blu, you will putt so much better with it. Just like me!

They're fine as long as you play by the rules. They just don't allow mulligans, don't play winter rules, no foot wedge and they expect you to be honest about your score.
They're a great group of guys, just don't get caught cheating unless you want an argument! ;)

Yeah, they sound like a great group of guys to me.

Sound like a bunch of super serious golfers. No room for fun when a golf score and bragging rights are on the line.

They are. They're a bunch of single digit caps though, so golf isn't just a way for them to drink beer, escape their wives and chase a little, white ball around. ;). There's been a few occasions where I thought the fists were going to start flying! LOL

I know what you're getting at. I also know that you're joking.

But being a single digit cap and being super serious all of the time are not mutually inclusive

I'm going to keep mine so I can show it to my grand kids someday. It will be like having an old persimmon wood.

I know a guy that still games a Callaway ERC II driver (the illegal one). I expect a lot of people will just keep their long putters.

Except you can still use a persimmon wood without people crying foul.

At my home course i see very few long putters they just never seem to catch on
