What Wedge Would You Buy

I have RTZ in my 50 and 56 and the Titleist SM10 in the 60 low bounce K grind.

You can't go wrong with the RTZ or the SM10

I’m in the market for a new wedge and can’t decide which one I want more. There are at least three that I’m seriously considering.

If you were buying a wedge right now, what would be in your bag? Why?
I have the SM10s in my bag and love them. For me the feel is great, the performance both around the greens, on longer chips and out of bunkers is everything I could ask from a wedge.

That, and the nickel finish is bad a** lol

A wedge is a wedge. Just pick something that fits your eye and enjoy. So long as you get the proper grind and bounce for your swing, that is. You literally can't go wrong with any of the OEMs. They all make great wedges.

Maybe a fitting to see the data and let the fitter know what you mainly use it for? Especially since it seems like a big part of your game.
I wish, but a fitting just isn’t in the cards at the moment.

I’ve never gamed a Vokey either. That experience would have been awesome.

My wedges need a refresh. But they are a strength for me. I’m sorta afraid to replace them.
I’m super hesitant too - hence the thread and my lack of trigger pulling to date, despite holding at least two in my hands.

I would go vokey but they have been my wedges for the past 15 years, so I am not impartial.
But this also speaks to their performance to you, which is also what I’m curious about.

You won’t be disappointed. They feel better than the Snakebites, and I loved the Snakebites. I still game the 54.
Now this seriously intrigues me. To you, how do they feel better? Softer? Because if I had one criticism of my current set is that sometimes they might feel a little harsh compared to others.

Yeah, that finish really is something to see eh?!

So man good options.

I really like my Vokeys, Wilson has a very underrated wedge. But I think if I was to go with something new it would either be the COBRA or Cleveland wedges!

Vokey, because Vokey.

I tried some others but kept retuning to them. Are they the best? Don’t know. Are they the best for my game? Don’t know. I just decided to pick a team and play on it and now I don’t give wedges a second thought.

It's RTZ. I tried a bunch of wedges coming off of my edels. Demo'd some for entire rounds, and the RTZ's are just legit. The hydrozip is absolutely noticeable. I tested it against Vokey's and Opus on a wet day and the spin was noticeable on even smaller chips.

They are soft feeling though, if you like a firmer wedge, you may want to look at something else, but I truly believe RTZ is the wedge of the year by leaps and bounds.

I'll always put RTZ up there.

In your case I'd probably lean heavily towards Cobra though. Familiarity and the fact that you have a special tie to Cobra.

The Opus Platinum or a Mizuno S23 for flight control on the lofted wedges.

RTZ or King wedges have both been really good for me this year. Flip a coin and pick one. I’ve got 2 chip ins with the King wedges. YMMV tho

Right now it’s just my 60° since it’s worn. I hit it more than my 56° and 52°.

My 60° is used in bunkers, off tough lies, and full swing shots off the tee.

So an all-around wedge suits my game best. I’ve got 2022 Cobra Snakebite wedges right now in Versatile grind. And I love them.
If you love that one, I think you’re nuts for not jumping into their line because it’s markedly improved with the current release

I would be looking at RTZ as well. I have the last generation of RTX and they are great but with the RTZ reviews here that would be my first look.

The Cobra King wedges have been among the best I have played over the past few years and I would recommend. The RTZ's are also pretty good. I'm not a Vokey fan, so I can't give any good feedback on those.

I know you’ve got RTZ in the bag, but why is Mizuno a front runner for you?

And FWIW, I’ve had Mizuno wedges before and really liked them. It was a T-22.
I’ve got the RTX and have hit a buddies RTZ. I also had the SM8’s and two versions of the Snakebites. I’d take the Mizuno T24’s I have over all of them. The soft feel is better than any of the others and I like the slightly smaller profile to help get through thick rough on green side shots. I’d probably go with the new T1 if I was buying.

The King wedges are MIM’d which gives them a tighter grain than casting. They would be between cast and forged, but closer to forged. The Opus wedges are made with the same process but IMO the King wedges look cooler. I have not hit the new Cleveland’s, but am intrigued by the new material they are using.

Most would cry in horror if I posted a picture of my 58. It’s had a hard life in the rock quarry.

I personally play with the Vokey SM9 54° & 58°. I really like them. I'll also need to switch soon as they're starting to be too worn down. I'll be looking at the new SM10 for sure. Other ones I'd like to see, are the Cobra Kings and the RTZ. Keep hearing/seeing good review on THP.

I have gone between Vokey's and TM for years. But currently playing MG4s in my 46*, 48* (bent to 50*), and MG4 TW Raw 60*. My 56* is the TW2 (about to upgrade to the MG4 TW Raw 56*). These knocked the Vokey's out of my bag. Did play SM8s then SM9s before that.

I absolutely hate the wedge flex shafts! They are fine on finesse shots but always balloon on me on full shots. Feel way too soft on full shots and cant flight them the way I want to. DG S400s are great wedge shafts. Can control the flight a lot easier and they never balloon on me.

Will say though that the SM10 low bounce K is calling to me. Haven't hit one yet but have held it in my hands. Love the way it looks and sits behind the ball.

Rtz and it's not close. I've never been as confident with a wedge as I am with the rtz.

I'm a fan of the Opus. Great control with spin, consistency, and ball flight.
