Whats in the Bag - Distances

We have a 220 yard par 3 here and on a calm day I can be on with a 7.

Dude you so balls!

I'd be happy with hitting the pga average 172 yards with my 7 iron...

Fact is some people hit it further than others, no need to belittle or make fun of anyone.

Me too if I could play like a pro buddy.

Just out of curiosity, why are you only in stiff's with that much firepower? Seems like you could have the occasion spin and accuracy issues.

Mickelsons 450 yard drive had about 160 yards of roll out... Pro's also have lofts that aren't common to the amateur because they compress the ball so much better and can hit anything high.

You are correct, I have enjoyed reading this thread lol

All 100% Fact!!!

I hit my 60 degree further than the average PGR drive!!!!

Why are some going this route? Can we not have any threads on distance anywhere before it tuns into a pi$$ing match and a "No you cant" kind of thing? If people doubt the abilities of those around them, come to one of the many THP events. Its as easy as that.

Im just kidding around, I know some THP players can hit it a ton...

But with that said, I've also seen way too many people who say they can hit it 280+ when they really drive it 240-250, or people who say they hit 180 with a 5 iron but always leave their 5 iron 20 yards short when shooting from 180.... As someone else said, people seem to think their "nutts on" shot is thier club distance...

JB if you did one in California I would be there

For me I don't really care so much about distances as much as club setup and gaps. So it's interesting to me to see what guys are laying up to or avoiding or what the top and bottom of the bag looks like.

I'm 15 off 0.2 and here are my distances you can make fun of them if you want but I'll just let my handicap speak.

Think I posted in this thread a couple years ago, but it's always fun to read these posts.

Driver 220-250
3-wood 220 tee

sw + lw distance varies on shot type
my driver avg. carry distance is alot closer to 220 than 250 overall

Your distances are like mine nowadays. Except mine are almost all at the low end of yours, LOL

61* LW 45 (I think - I've never taken a full swing with it)

Driver - 270-285

9 iron - 135 - 155

Pretty much my exact gaps except no 2 hybrid. Hit my lw about 75 yards on a full swing but rarely use it for such. I can touch 300 with the driver if I get after one.

It's been almost 2 years and I'd like to update:

Driver: 250

3hybrid: 215
4 iron: 200

I feel I'm really leaving some distance behind with my long clubs based off how far I hit my short clubs but I've made a conscious effort to try and slow down. It's a process.

Just out of curiosity, why are you only in stiff's with that much firepower? Seems like you could have the occasion spin and accuracy issues.

Until I joine thp I never really gave shafts that much consideration.
When I do post a video you'll see on the irons I tend to have a strong draw.
Reading some posts on shafts it seems that a stiffer shaft can correct that.
When I go in august to england I may try out some other shafts but here in uganda nothing else is available and I didn't really know much better until I joined thp.

Someone else on here mustve seen that pga comp before the masters where dustin johnson hit a 3 wood on a 349 yard par 4 and it landed on the green. Or a few holes later when he hit a 296 yard 3 iron?
I completely understand how people don't believe my distances and that's fine. I'm going to try get some video on sunday of a few holes.
Its going to be a bit odd asking my playing partners, especially if they ask for a reason.lol
I'll get some drives and some iron shots and try upload it on monday. The iron shots will be easier to see distances on as they can be on par 3s. Tbh I won't be able to give accurate carry distances on the driver. Sorry.

I'm sorry if people think I'm trolling. I feel like a bit of an a-hole putting up some video.

I'm quite a new golfer, only been a member for 2 years and playing 5 in total. These are my go to yardages but can go further with all clubs..

Driver - 240+
3 wood - 220+
5 wood - 200-210
4 hybrid -190-200
5 iron - 180
6 iron - 170
7 iron - 160
8 iron - 150
9 iron - 140
PW - 120 - 13
GW - 100-110
SW - 80-90
LW - 70

These yardages are from my local course in the UK that is not far above sea level and usually cold and windy....

I won't lie, my driver average is 246 yards and thats measured using over 100 drives on Golf Shot GPS and I hit it further than most the people I play with...

I play with guys all the time who say they hit 270+ but when I check its more like 240-250...

I am with you. I am one if the longer hitter in my cc Sunday league. I go 240-265 and out drive 95% of the members. And I play one of the hardest courses in New England. Funny thing is I typically play the same iron distances as the people I out drive. I only take my 7 iron to about 152

I think this is the right thread to post this in,
Does anyone else play both a 3h/3i, 4h/4i ect? When I went the hybrid route to replace my 3 iron I was hitting the 3h much farther than I could ever hit the 3i, so i sold it and picked up a 21* rescue 11 to replace the 3iron gap so I play a 4 hybrid and a 4 iron. The hybrid being about 15 yards longer which is perfect for the gapping i was looking for. I looked through a bunch of people's signatures and didn't see anyone who plays "repetitive clubs"

Yep I have a 4 hybrid and a 4 iron. There is a 3* difference between the two though so I have a pretty good gap
