Whats the worst golf ball youve ever legitimately put into play?

Top Flite Magna. It was an oversize ball from back in the 90s.
My dad played those for a while...then the Strata balls came out.

Dixon is another one, ugh.

It felt like hitting a wet turd. Terrible ball.

The worst mainstream ball I played was the Titleist TruSpeed. I like a lot of their balls. This one was the rare ball I didn't even bother finishing out the dozen or putting them in a shag bag. Just threw them away.

Strata was a really good ball.
Some of the budget balls that get slagged off are actually decent enough balls for the price. Two that come to mind immediately are the Precept Laddie and Noodle Long & Soft, I regularly played both of them years ago and there was nothing objectionable about them (other than they don't stick to greens, like basically any Surlyn ball).

Everything OnCore.

I played both the Laddie and the Noodle.

Probably the Wilson elite 50 or whatever it was. It was like hitting a marshmallow and it was terrible for me.

Or the cut blue. That thing sucked.

Top Flite a long time ago.

About 1962. I played a Japanese floating golf ball on a par 3 over a pond. I had my fun, got over the pond, and retired the ball, because other than that it was a terrible ball.

Top Flite a long time ago.
Balata balls even before that. Super soft covers that you could cut big "smiley faces" into with a thin iron strike, instantly ruining them. Cores made of wound rubber bands, and almost uncontrollable spin which made them really unforgiving. If you put a hook or slice spin on it, kiss it goodbye.

Strata was a really good ball.
They were. Honestly - the Top Flite XL 2000 Exceptional Spin that I played in the late 90s/early 2000s wasn't too bad either for the price.

I didn't have Strata/Titleist Professional/Maxfli Revolution money when I was 19-20 years old...lol.

Maxfli revolution... Dicks had a sick deal ... Used one sleeve the rest went back ... This was a number of years ago

Taylormade distance+ also really bad

Once upon a time, the Maxfli Revolution was the #3 most played golf ball on the PGA Tour.

I'm certain it wasn't this model...lol

Pinnacle. I was young and didn't know any better
I loved the Pinnacle Exception and used Gold Distance when I started playing as I too didn’t know any better. I don’t like the feel of their Rush and Soft balls now. The Nitro is the worst all I have ever hit.

The gold and the red! My dad loved them, so I thought they were great as well.

Vice Drive... was winter, needed cheap golf balls and they felt like marshmallows.

Top Flight x-outs were my go-to in highschool but I was in highschool so I was dumb

one of the early z star diamonds. it was like hitting solid plastic. insanely clicky, no feel at all. god i hated that ball.

From purely a durability standpoint 2025 Srixon Z Star Diamond and it's not close. I loved everything about it in the sim and two golf holes at a time.

At the start of 2025 season I bought 5 dozen because I thought it was "THE ONE". It's basically soured me on their balls for life I think.

OnCore. Hated both of their "premium" balls I tried.

What year? What model ball?
Many probably. This was mostly as a teenager into my late 20s and not something I really paid attention to. A coworker lives on a golf course so he would bring in buckets of balls that were hit into his yard and I'd just pick those out. It wasn't until the last few years that I've actually paid attention to the differences.
