What's your "Got to go there once a season" Golf course?

Like some others have mentioned, I try to play Red Tail in Devens, MA at least once a year. Absolutely love that course.

The family spends a week in Maine every year and I try to play golf a few times that week. The wife and I make the hour drive to play Sugarloaf every year. The 11th hole is one of my favorite holes ever played, a 160 yard par 3 with a 120 foot elevation drop from the tee to the green. Usually a nice and easy PW for me.

I would love to play Belgrade Lakes every year while we're up there, but the greens fees are just a bit too much for my liking.

Bandon Dunes Resort. We go there every January/February for three rounds.

Do you ever wander up to Tokatee? That is my favorite "unknown" course in the PacNW. Seems it is Peter Jacobsen's too. The setting is grand and the course isn't half bad.

Can't say I've been to Giants Ridge, the Quarry or The Wilderness.
Some year, we want to do Warroad Estates and Buffalo Point on a long weekend. I have done a few courses while staying at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN.
I've been to Red Lake Falls, it's a 9 hole with many tough holes. We also played the 9 hole course in Fertile, MN.
I've also played Blueberry Pines 18 holes in Menagha. My tips is to not venture off the fairway at Blueberry Pines, there's lots pine straw in the forest.
If you can, go!
Giants Ridge is my favorite course in all of Mn.
Some prefer The Quarry.
Wilderness reminds me of The Classic at Maddens.

I probably play at Tokatee between 10-20 times a season. Haven't been this year yet since they re-opened.

Well the course I always want to go to at least once a year is CDA Resort! We haven't been able to make it work with my golf friends recently so we haven't been going, but that's the one that I would say for sure! The one we do end up going to every year is a course called Old Works about an hour and half away. It's a Nicklaus design and is pretty awesome for the area it's in. We've gone there at least once the past four years and it's always a great time with no overnight needed.

Two -

Prairie Dunes
Sand Hills

Probably will add a third - Dormie Club

Sea Island Golf Resort. We usually get down there to play at least once a year, but occasionally we get more than 1 trip in.

I don’t yet have an aspirational must play once a year course. Clearly I need to play more courses and look forward to getting to a point where I can toss out a fav.
Same for me. I need to get out and expand my golfing a bit, but we have some really nice courses that I play regular thru the season that are all within 2 hours drive.

My Fav in your area
Shoal Creek.
Played it every year when visiting my daughter going to KU.

Have never played it, I will check it out. Thanks

Unfortunately I don't really have one. I don't generally travel for golf trips although I am thinking about doing a trip this year once things loosen up. Right now in my thoughts are Cabot Links, Pinehurst (convenient) or one of the Wisconsin resorts. I like the Bandon idea but I live on the east coast which makes it a real long trip.

Washtenaw GC. Mostly because it's the (second) nicest course I've played but the one one I've played in multiple years. Luckily I've already checked it off my list this year. Hopefully I can add a more prominent one to this.

Kinderlou Forest in Valdosta, GA with THPers every fall. I'd play that course way more often if I could.

Pinehurst is one of my favorite trips I've ever taken.
And The Whistling straights /Kohler courses are really way up there as well.
(I birdied # 18 on Both Pinehurst # 2 and Whistling Straights, so that could be why I remember them so much more than some of the other places I've been)

But, If I'm choosing, I'd go Pinehurst.
The clubhouse with all the Payne Stewart memorabilia is stunning.

I have been to Pinehurst a couple of times but never for a real golf trip. I played #2 for work and I was there for the 14 US Open and played some of the other courses while there. I would love to go and just stay there and play.

Streamsong once a year. Red, or blue course. The Black course is garbage.

World Woods Pine Barrens course. Not because I think it's great, but I play it once to see if it's gotten any better. I always leave disappointed and wondering why I did this to myself.

HAHA I just went to World Woods for the first time and I feel the same way. Great layout but the conditions and overall experience wasn't anything special. Yet to play Streamsong though.

When I was living in Connecticut I had to play Yale at least once a season if not more. It typically isn't in great shape but the layout is unbelievable and one of a kind for an area so congested that other courses just don't have the land to utilize. Really challenging as well. I've lived in Gainesville, FL the past two years and still looking for a course to say the same about.

The layout is great but yeah the conditions are just garbage. I might learn my lesson this year and just not

Streamsong and Bandon are on the top of my bucket list that I would like to get to this year ( if we ever can )

For me it’s Pasatiempo, just love walking that course and taking it all in. Always leave in a great frame of mind.

Bethpage Black. Have been playing there on and off for over 30 years and is still a treat when I get there.
