Do you play?

Gusts in the mid to upper 30’s today with baseline in the high teens to lower 20’s and I was just called a lunatic for heading out to get a round in.

Do you wind golf? What’s your cutoff? Are you capable of controlling trajectories on windy days?

Part of the deal around here.

Do I wind golf? Yes. I don't care how windy it is.

Am I capable of controlling anything ever? No. Absolutely not.

Haha, I think most feel that second part

If I didn't play in the wind, I wouldn't get to play very often. Haven't found the cut off yet, but played last year with 50mph gusts and it was pretty miserable. I don't really flight it any differently on purpose, but tend to hit a lower ball just by default which is likely a product of always playing in the wind.

Unless the course (and all the other munis near it) are closed , I play on the theory that no matter what its like outside, it beats whatever she would have me do if I was home...

Honestly, it depends on the temperature.

If the temperature is still good then yes i'll play when it's windy. It does often make it way less enjoyable cause I do not have the ability to control anything on a good day, much less a windy day, but golf is golf.

I can handle it but I rather not if I can avoid it. That said, I will take wind over rain all day long

I live in a very windy area of Wisconsin. There's a reason they put up windmills in this area and are trying to put up more.

If we didn't golf in the wind, we'd miss out on a lot of rounds. Sometimes it's laughable, but it's still fun to try and see if you can manage it.

I prefer it not to be windy, but I also can't be picky about when I play these days. So...yes I still play, but I will grumble about the whole time while I shoot magnificently high scores for myself.

For me, it’s avoidance of little kid laundry (namely bastard kids socks!) haha

Thankfully you hit a really really low ball 🤣😜

I don’t mind the wind. Certainly not a preference, but when I can play I get out there. With two kids heavy into baseball you take what you get 😂

I have gotten to where I don’t mind wind. It’s an additional challenge.

Yep and yep.

I try and keep the driver low but that’s about it. For the rest of the bag I just take the extra 2/3/4 clubs and hope for the best. It can be pretty entertaining sometimes.

I love playing in the wind. A good blow separates the wheat from the chaff.

I've definitely passed on a day like that more than once.

Golf is golf, though.

Also, The callaway CTTD is absurd holding against a cross wind. I have to remind myself not to play as much wind movement with that ball.

I think it’s fun here and there. It’s been windy for two weeks straight where I live and the guys I play with are all pretty over it.

I play in wind basically most of the early spring and later fall. I enjoy it. I find in the spring it’s a way to really dial in clubs and figure out what I can do. Like I did a week ago, depending on course it’s a lot of driving irons instead of anything wood wise. But I just take that opportunity to focus on the middle part of my bag more than anything, work on flighting the ball (I’m not great but I’ve gotten better), and continue to really hone in the short game.

Apparently cat 1 hurricane, since THPers had me play in tropical storms

Its fun every now and then to get brutalized by a windy day. Unfortunately, Tallahassee is one of those strange areas of the world where no matter which way the hole is going, you're playing into the wind.

Yes I will play unless it is ridiculously cold. No I am not great at controlling trajectory but I do work on hit that shot with the wedges.
