Two more rare bird finds in my area! I think I’m set for a good long while!

Local grocery store started stocking Buffalo Trace. Of course I decided to support that decision

Refill of my favorite single grain Irish whisky and a rare sighting of the toasted barrel had to come home with me.

Jealous about that Toasted Barrel Finish!

Got lucky. Walked into one of my regular stops, before I finished asking if anything new came in he plopped the bottle on the counter and said “one of two that came in. It’s yours if you want it.”

Yay wheated bourbon!

I had a drink of Rebel Yell Single Barrel myself last night.

Local store received a shipment of single barrel Weller and Old Forester. The Weller will be a good Old Fashioned/Manhattan pour. The Old Forester is really good. Sweet and fruity without any heat considering it's 90 proof. IMG_20191001_200529.jpg

I'm a single malt drinker myself. Favorites include Delmore 15 or 12, Highland Park 12 or 15 and Oban 14.

Very new to the whiskey scene. Someone gifted me a bottle of Woodford Reserve a year ago and I finally got around to opening it. Very good. I just bought this bottle of knob creak and really like it. I know these are probably standard and I have a lot to learn, but I’m looking forward to the experience.

Always remember this on your new journey, don’t let people tell you what your “supposed” to like or what’s better than something else. Your pallet is your own. I’m not saying ignore everyone, but it’s ok to not like something that according to someone else is the best thing on the market. Also, expensive doesn’t always mean good. For most people, there is a diminishing point of return where your just wasting money for a label or age statement that you’ll never be able to taste. Some of my favorite juice out there sits squarely in the $30-$45 range. And yes I have $250+ bottles that I just don’t get why they’re so expensive.

Good advice, thanks! This $30 bottle of Knob Hill is pretty good so far. Really liking the Maple Flavor.

My buddy has about 60 bottles of various whiskey at his house, so I think he’s having me over for a tasting one of these days.
