Getting the bottles back into the bar tonight to make space for the Christmas presents behind the baby gate.

Had to kill this one to make some space

I figure this thread is as good as any, I am putting a countertop order in on Monday for quartz charcoal soapstone, hoping I can get the "rough" edge like this

And then I'm thinking of 2 of these led lit shelves for on top of the bar, and that'll clear out some of the cabinets for the remaining bottles

Open to suggestions on what the other whiskey lovers think would be a good idea!

I’m a newbie to Bourbon. I’m drinking Woodford Reserve. I got interested in it because of a bourbon tasting at last year’s Morgan Cup.

It has been a long day and for that matter a long week. I honestly don’t even know day it is. I could / might go through all of this…

My first scotch in a looooong time

I have always been a scotch guy. Love single malts, especially Glenmorangie.

My son is a bourbonfile. He got me drinking some different ones. My favorite is Angel's Envy.

My new favorite scotch came from my sister-in-law who is from Scotland. Her son sent her a bottle of Dahlwinnie Winter's Gold. It is awesome, mild with a touch of honey aftertaste. It isn't sold in the U.S. but when I traveled to Canada I found a bottle in the Duty Free store.

I like a bourbon that doesn't burn. Maker's SE4 is quite nice.

Total Wine has this for $18. Seems like a nice option.

Edit: High Corn and high wheat. Highish proof. Good price. Very young. Nice to try. Will be making cocktails with this.

This is a good time of year to grab some allocated bottles. I picked these up last week, along with a couple Blantons and an Elija Craig 18.

Okay I have a somewhat whiskey/bourbon related question.
How the hell do I make a large ice cube clear? You know with no white cloudiness and or cracks in it?

I did some research on this a while back. Seems guys freeze water in small coolers resulting with the center of the large freeze not having any oxygen (cause of cloudy ice). Then they carve/pick/chop the clear ice from the middle and then shape it. Way too much work for me...

Christmas gift from my parents. Looking forward to trying it. CC is good stuff and OHLQ picks are usually really good.IMG_3684.jpeg

Buy them.

Wintersmiths is a home kit that does the best I've seen.

What did you think? I recently found one as well and bought it. I was honestly disappointed.
Haven’t tried it yet. I’ll certainly be neutral with it, no expectations going in.

The whiskey will be had neat so the full flavor will be savored.

Secret Santa got me a 1.75 of Bulleit Rye. Going to have to crack it open for new years.

There have been a TON of really good allocated releases here locally as of the past week. I’ve resisted.

It is crazy to me the prices some people pay for a bottle.
I'm not one for regulation, but the fact all our liquor stores are regulated by the state is a good thing. It doesn't matter where I go to buy a bottle it is the same price at any liquor store in the state of Idaho. They are all at MSRP or lower. We never get the inflated prices you see on the secondary market.
Plus they do a really good job of keeping high end stuff in stock. If it isn't all I have to do is request it and they call when it comes in.
