I went RTP tonight…in my insulated Asobu rock glass.

Anyone try this one? Thoughts?

Yes. Had it at the distillery and own a bottle. If you like Willett, it’s their wheated and a bit smoother on the finish. Pricey typically when it can be found, as the MSRP is about $150 I believe. I paid $159 for mine in Knoxville where it seemed every store had it

Can you figure out what that finish note is? SO different.

If I could find it for that I’d buy it. I haven’t seen it less than 225 because this state is dumb. But I like Willett enough to go for this.

Going off memory only, it was oaky and tannic. I really liked it, but love Willett stuff. If you enjoy their flavors, keep an eye out for their other labels. Johnny Drum, Speakeasy, Pure Kentucky, Old Bardstown and Noah’s Mill. Oh yeah and Rowan’s Creek.

Some are really slept on, and are quite good. While the Purple Tops get most of the love, especially the single barrel variety, things like Johnny Drum and Speakeasy are very good

If anybody sees this bottle in the wild before I find it, I want it. Bernheim just launched their 20th anniversary.

@amarkabove I want an auction for the wolves x Willett

I didn't even think to look this week because it was a reserve week.
yeah, typically I don’t even get involved with the reserve auctions, and I put a hard limit at 200 and it was less than that.

Also did a thing for a 25-year-old wild turkey bottle that I wanted

Hell yeah.

Hell yeah.
yeah, I know the MSRP on it is about 350, and I was never gonna get anywhere near that, but for what I got it at I’m good with it

The pick ups today. Got the Green River wheated FP and then had a friend recommend the Oak and Eden. Haven’t had either before.

Almost won a WLW on Unicorn today. It just slipped past my max. I am equal parts bummed and relieved.

@JB you live in the land of plenty. Do you see this in the wild? If so what price?

I don’t, but don’t really look for it.
I believe one store by me has Btac Saz an WLW for like $900.

I paid $300 for my Thomas Handy

That checks, thx.

I haven't tried the TH yet. Had a chance to while out the other night but they wanted $150 a pour.

How does it work with these allocated drops where you guys live? For me it's typically one of the following:

1. Crazy ridiculous markups (this is actually best case scenario)
2. Raffle to choose buyer. You typically have to buy normal bottles for tickets, and you still never win.
3. Minimum store points to qualify. My local place wants 1000 points to buy the more sought after stuff. It's $1 per point so you would have had to have spent $1k at the store prior.

In other words it's all a scam/gouge, which is why I gravitate towards unicorn. I'm patient there and bid low each cycle and hope for the best. Kind of the car shopping approach where you aren't afraid to walk away.

I’m in NW Burbs of Chicago. I do almost all of my shopping at a couple stores and pop in and ask. I buy a lot of their recommendations and just became friendly with the Mgrs. They also know I am not a flipper and when I get something they were excited about I bring sample. It took a while for sure.
I also joined some Discords and local Bourbon groups on Facebook that talks about drops and if stuff is out.

soME people don’t mind paying secondary because they aren’t buying a lot of other stuff so it depends on the person.
I enjoy buying other things because I just like it. There is a lot of stuff you can just walk in and get that’s better than allocated stuff anyway IMHO.
