I love it when a bourbon kicks you in the forehead up front and then finishes super smooth. It's weird.
Agreed. Weird in the best way.

Wild Turkey 12 year pour tonight. Though it’s not a US shelf product; I’m pretty sure in the Asian market it’s about $50 USD equivalent which makes it one of the best values in whisky IMO

Anyone flown home with bourbon before? I’m not above hunting while I’m out in NJ.

Trying some standard US-1 Michters tonight. Not bad but won’t repeat replacing when it’s empty.

very, very much, liked the 18 year. Had it at the distillery and bought a bottle, and finished it already.

I have the 21 year now as well, but I think I like the 18 year better

The 21 is staring at me from my Knob Creek shelf.
Now that the 18 is gone, I'll be opening the 21 soon.

Bottle of the day for @Canadan
Each day I’m going to post one he should get

Seagrass is a joyride. So interesting!

Local store had my double double oak I was looking for. Along with a few other things.

First pour this evening. Not sure it’ll be the last.

I need to find some more Mizunara finished bottles.

My pour for tonight. At 130 proof it's hot! I let it mellow out a little bit on an ice ball and it is fantastic! Surprisingly smooth.

I've flown home from Scotland with scotch firmly packed in my luggage among my clothes. Had no issues. Just make sure there isn't room in your bag for it to shift around when the baggage handlers throw it around.

Having looked at stores in NJ, they sell everything a secondary prices. Not as bad as Manhattan but still higher than I'd pay for stuff.

I wonder if chingador knows that almost 15 years later he is still internet famous.

Going simple tonight with some Four Roses single barrel. After getting home late from a big band gig and hearing about how my teenage daughter had to take a cold shower tonight, I grabbed the closest thing available on the shelf.

Apparently had some power blips and screwed up a battery backup that kept tripping the outlets. All good now so catching up with the Bracketology and having a drink… or probably two.

Saw these tonight. I think it could be fun to fill up a bottle flight and send it to someone with one of these in it.

Where in NJ are you if you're still here, maybe I can give some suggestions on spots to hunt.

Had to go slightly up north last week for a work thing and there's a Costco that occasionally gets great drops, but not this time. Still ended up with a BT for $27 and a Lagavulin Offerman Edition Run Cask Aged for $56

They had a few more that were tempting too
