Wilson DYNAPWR Metal Woods

@Hawk I don't know what it is about the shape of the face, but it looks like(from the front on shot) that it just wants to be hit mid-high toe-side of center.
Let's hope so 😂

I had the older carbon out yesterday and even logged up a degree noticed a considerably lower launch/flight than I’m used to. It’s a pretty good looking head in its own right but this new one is a much better looking package.
Much better looking for sure!

Yea, I hit that old one pretty low, and then the miss was a dive-bomb left.

Just a few more pics and the rest will go in the review article. Took some great video today too, so watch for that on social.

I really like what Wilson is doing.

And very nice job with the article @ddec!

Finally took some swings with this today indoors and am planning on getting it outdoors later. I hate freaking swinging drivers indoors - beech. Still, not too bad for a first pass and the first driver swings I've taken since December.

Set this at +2 degrees. Pleased to see it wasn't overly closed or weird looking at that setting. Very useable visually.

Anyway, a few quick thoughts.
  • Sounds amazing and feels amazing. Really nice.
  • Seems to be substantially more forgiving than the original DYNAPWR. The miss isn't so deadly at least. Even some decent results from swipey contact.
  • Predominant ball flight for me was a fade back to center or a slight pull. A couple true wipers out right. A couple big yanks. Mostly what would be in the confines of the golf course though. Could not say that about the original.
  • Ball flight ranged from a little too low to what I consider mid height. Spin and launch were both on the low end for me at times, but towards the end as I warmed it wasn't too bad at all. 12-13 degrees/2500.
  • Seemed quick enough for what I was giving it.

Can you compare the sound to some others you have tried?

Let me get outdoors to be sure, but definitely different than most the drivers I've had in hand over the last couple years. Maybe more in the realm of something like the Rogue or even Beres NX? It's a really satisfying crack without any of the high pitched overtones.

If it sounds like the Beres NX, its one of the best.

First outing of the year. First outing with the DYNAPWR Carbon. First outing at my new club. Good day for sure.

Before we go too far, it's March 3rd in IL. Golf this time of year is a bonus that needs to be appreciated for what it is. Playing off normal tees, but temporary greens. Some very, very soft spots since snow melted just a couple weeks ago. Not real golf, which is probably a good thing, because I need to learn to play outdoor golf again before I have to play outdoor golf.

Last thing - I haven't really swung a driver before today for a few months. Not an excuse, but just a warning that whatever I say today may end up changing over time.

Anyway, I could play this driver. That's probably the biggest thing I took away today. I never really got there with the original DYNAPWR. It was just too much a player's driver with the low spin, right bias, etc. This is an accessible option that should fit quite a wide group of players. Plenty forgiving with the heavy weight back. Not forgiving like a Max or K type driver, but right in that sweet spot that most of us are used to.

Sounds and looks so nice. Not as muted as some carbon drivers, but just this perfect blend of soft and metallic that works really well. People are going to have a lot of good things to say about the sound - it's well deserved. Shape and top design both work very well. Best looking Wilson metalwood I've ever seen.

How did I hit it? Well, about like you'd expect a guy like me to hit it given all the circumstances. A mix of decent, good, very good, and a few that were not really so memorable lol. In general I saw a mix of gentle fades and various shades of pull. Nothing really out of play, but my fair share of missed fairways. No big slices or screaming hooks, which was very appreciated.

Height was a mixed bag. Mid to mid high. Again, I'm lofted up +2, so I don't think this is anything approaching a high launching/high spinning driver.

nice! How much sound variance did you notice outside between the good, very good, decent, and those not to be remembered?

I could tell if I missed (high or toe primarily), but all of them were still what I'd call pleasant. Center is just mushy and delightful.

I love hearing that.

I don’t know what’s going to change here in the next month. But I hope this makes the trek in April.

I'm going to bring it for sure. It definitely needs to be hit by as many people as possible.

I think it could be a pretty good match for you @ddec. I haven't tested the bottom of the face much, but I can try lol

This is the first Wilson driver ai have been really amped to hit in a while

Oh you hahah

Don’t sleep on the Max version.

If people really give Wilson a chance this year I think they would be surprised how amazing this lineup is to the previous generation. The numbers I've seen on Foresight are equally comparable to every major OEM ive hit this year

The core model DYNAPWR may just make my bag this year once I can actually get outside and play. I prefer the look at address of this over Qi35 and just slightly behind Adapt-LS

It's pretty spectacular looking, isn't it?

It really is. I would prefer the whole top to be matte but this does look amazing and confidence inspiring. I was more excited to hit this driver than any other one this year and the numbers reflected that

How would you describe center contact? I'm using a softer ball most of the time, so that influences things, but it's almost like you can feel the ball smooshing into the face. Really nice.

I bought the 4 wood and 7 wood in the carbon. I put a UST Linq Red in both. The 4 wood is a great tee club and is so easy to launch off of the deck. It is an awesome club. Haven’t hit the 7 wood a bunch but it has been going that 205-215 distance pretty consistently. Little windy to hit that early in the season.

Is comparable enough to make people take a chance on Wilson? Price and looks help.
