Wilson DYNAPWR Metal Woods

How would you describe center contact? I'm using a softer ball most of the time, so that influences things, but it's almost like you can feel the ball smooshing into the face. Really nice.
I think it’s a perfect happy medium. The TM drivers have a soft/dead feeling to them bc of the carbon face. The DS-Adapt LS is pretty firm off the center. The core Carbon was a perfect medium between those 2 drivers I own currently whereas the DYNAPWR LS felt pretty firm similar to the Adapt LS

I use a TP5x and prefer firm feeling ball. I dunno if it’s the face or the ball but I did feel a satisfying compression off the center that I don’t get with either TM or Cobra.

When I center the TM I don’t feel much of anything. The Cobra when centered is very firm but feels powerful. DYNAPWR is just satisfying and felt the best

Definitely has that goldilocks thing going on.

Is comparable enough to make people take a chance on Wilson? Price and looks help.
That’s the million dollar question. To the average consumer I don’t think so… but to those on golf forums that do the research I think it is

If club champion or true spec can get these in more people’s hands who are unbiased then I think they can do very well. They won’t take over top 5 wood sales but I’d have to believe they sell better than the previous generation

If the Carbon listed at $499 and not $549, does that help or hurt sales? It’s an interesting conundrum.

Finally took some swings with this today indoors and am planning on getting it outdoors later. I hate freaking swinging drivers indoors - beech. Still, not too bad for a first pass and the first driver swings I've taken since December.

Set this at +2 degrees. Pleased to see it wasn't overly closed or weird looking at that setting. Very useable visually.

Anyway, a few quick thoughts.
  • Sounds amazing and feels amazing. Really nice.
  • Seems to be substantially more forgiving than the original DYNAPWR. The miss isn't so deadly at least. Even some decent results from swipey contact.
  • Predominant ball flight for me was a fade back to center or a slight pull. A couple true wipers out right. A couple big yanks. Mostly what would be in the confines of the golf course though. Could not say that about the original.
  • Ball flight ranged from a little too low to what I consider mid height. Spin and launch were both on the low end for me at times, but towards the end as I warmed it wasn't too bad at all. 12-13 degrees/2500.
  • Seemed quick enough for what I was giving it.
What drivers would you compare the feel to? It looks like it sets up very nicely behind the ball, does that help with your aim at all?

Sorry I meant to respond to this yesterday and got sidetracked.

Haven't really noticed any aim help, but I am happy to see that the +2 loft setting isn't so ridiculously closed that I refuse to use it. Probably will look closed at some level to most people, but it's not terrible to me.

As for sound comparisons, we discussed it a little further up the page, but I'd say @jfrigo1003 described it really well as a perfect middle ground. Not dead and not too boisterous. It's really pleasant.

@Hawk Can you share a picture of the driver at setup view?

I hit a whole bunch of balls with this yesterday after speed training. I was 100% not trying to worry about dispersion or strike. Purely trying to just swing faster. As you can imagine, that resulted in a wide variety of impact points. Again, I came away impressed with the forgivingness, especially in comparison to the previous generation. It basically a completely different driver imo. Very few balls off the map.

For me, I'll say again that it launches a tick lower than is probably ideal for me, but it's not like 8-9 degrees or anything. I like to be in the 14-16 range and it's closer to 12-13. Spin isn't crazy low, but low enough.

Miss is predominantly left for me, but left of center if that makes sense. I'm not seeing running hooks.

I gotta try these out one day. I love the looks.

At my last fitting I mentioned Wilson and he stopped and talked for about 3 minutes recapping 4 people that he fit them into the Wilson woods in the last couple weeks. He said they are seeing great performance out of them. These may be a gem of a lineup this year.

I had a feeling it was going to sound pretty impeccable. That’s good to hear confirmation of.

That 2500 range is rock solid.

Left of center isn’t a bad place to be if there’s no low hooks involved.

I love love love hearing that the playability is much improved, because it def needed to be from last years.

It’s impressive how stacked the release deck is for 25

Yea just a little pully more than anything, which I can't say I dislike (as long as the fairways aren't swamped).

Do you have the 10.5 lofted up?

Im noticing alot of this years drivers are launching lower than I like. I had to go with 10.5 in DS Adapt LS. My Qi35 core is a 9* but its launching around 10. I should have gone with a 10.5 there

My miss is left so if i do pick up a DYNAPWR I would go 10.5 and open it one notch

It's the 9 degree lofted up.

Companies seem to send 9 degree drivers more often than not, at least on the "non-Max" models.

ah ok. so the 10.5 would probably be more ideal for you than. Less lofting up and less closed face

Yep for sure. Gotta roll with what we get sometimes. Not a huge deal with this one, but with the old version in 9 degree it was pretty rough.

old version was super low spin and unplayable. This lineup is probably the best upgrade from old model to new model of all the OEM's

Absolutely.

Would love to hear a direct sound comparison between last years Carbon and the 2025.

I can't give you a recording if that's what you're looking for, but the 2025 comes off far less firm to my ears.

I moved the heavy weight forward today when I was practicing on the SkyTrak+. That was a big old mistake lol. Made me feel like I was hitting the 2023 DYNAPWR Carbon. I hit a couple that didn't crack 1200 rpms of backspin. Had to test it though.
