Wilson DYNAPWR Metal Woods

Driver swing sucked today. Other than one REALLY bad swing that left me blocked out behind a tree I was always just off the fairway. So much more playable than the old DPC. Still not sure it's my ideal driver at 9 degrees based on launch/spin profile, but we work with what we get. As noted, I have it adjusted up to 11 degrees. Certainly struggled with the pull miss today and that face started looking more and more closed the deeper into the round I got.

Not sure if I should attach to this thread, but I'll try to be brief/concise. Bought the '23 Dynapower carbon primarily as a backup. Was seriously considering trading it in for the new Dynapwr Carbon, as it just looks soooo good. The original is probably not a good fit, as I'm older, and slower. Didn't like the stock shaft, so having several pulls to choose from, I put an Elements 55g. in. Hit it considerably worse. Tried to sell it with no bites, (typical Wilson resale).

End of last year, I installed a regular stock Wilson shaft from the C300 driver. Let it sit, and went out for nine today. Just bombed this driver, (well, when I say bombed, I'm 66 years old in 2 weeks).

No science behind this shaft being right for me, it was just a huge guess. Have it set at 11,5d. and it seems just perfect.

The moral of this post is, I wouldn't even think of going after the new DP carbon. For those struggling with the cost, take a hard look at the '23 version. Yes, it's a low spin head, but with the right shaft, weights and settings, it could be a good fit for a wide variety of players and could be had for less than a couple of green fees. Also, this could be the best feeling/sounding driver I've ever had. Could seriously become my gamer. Hope this helps someone out there.

I mention this in the upcoming review quite a bit, but I'd really suggest looking at what you want your face angle to look like at address when picking a starting loft to adjust from. I'm just struggling a little bit with the closed face from adding loft causing me to miss left. I ended up adjusting my grip mid round yesterday and that's just not what I want to be doing mid-round. I did manage one beautiful high fade on the one hole that asks for a perfect high fade, so that was nice. My longest drive in a long time. Mostly though I was still pulling the ball. I stink. My driver swing stinks. I get that lol. I just wish I was getting a little more directional help from the adjustments.

I also mentioned in the review, but the adapter seems to be way behind the curve for 2025 drivers. Granted, this driver costs a bit less than others, but it's not exactly cheap. Six loft adjustments is a great start, but there's nothing to indicate what those changes do to lie angle and there isn't a dedicated lie angle adjustment. Room for improvement.

Still contend that, with the 12g weight back in the head, this is a massive improvement in forgiveness over the 2023 DPC.

I am really excited to hit these. I know I have said that about a lot of products this year and release season, but low key these seem to be maybe the best underdog performer?

Local shop just got the RH stuff in and hoping for the LH stuff soon for a little demo.

I think in the larger market as a whole (as opposed to THP, where we get a little deeper into things) there is probably one brand that would be the true underdog performer (Cobra), but these certainly could be put into the conversation as well. Especially the drivers.

Exactly. COBRA products should be in the hands of more golfers. Price point is just that fraction less and the performance is the same or above all the other big named brands. That goes across the whole product line.

Wilson irons have been great for a long time, I think the drivers from last year or two years ago were a great step in the right direction, but this year they seemed to have really nailed it.

Just a hard thing to break brand perception from years of meh products, but to their credit they have done more to try and boost the image than others like with Driver Vs Driver etc.

The hardcore (forum golfer?) will give them a closer look, the OTR golfer will likely walk right past them sadly.

I would agree that this is probably the best overall driver release from Wilson in the modern era. Some room for improvement, especially in adjustability, but looks, feel, and overall performance are right there.

Couldn't agree more. The Wilson adapter settings are minimal by comparison to other current models. Also, agree that most golfers that would look at the '23 or '25 Carbon, won't like the idea of closed face angles when adjusting. I lofted up the '23 and it still looks square to me at address, so have no problem with it.
In another thread, I mentioned that I couldn't get head weights for Wilson models. Even contacted Wilson directly and was told they're not available.
If Wilson want's to be a serious competitor for the big 4, they're going to have to go the extra mile.

I checked these out today and they have a real nice shape. Can’t help but think they would look better without the red but wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. I didn’t have time to hit them.
