You know you are at a nice course when...

They "don't take that plastic here".

Shady Oaks I love you.

The caddies pick up divots and debris after every shot so that the course looks just as untouched and pristine for every group.

There are comfort stations every three or four holes containing every drink and snack imaginable, as part of the membership.

There is a lady grilling awesome stuff like Reuben sandwiches at the turn in a cool little outdoor kitchen, also complementary as part of the membership.

If you want a cup of coffee (heck, if you just think about it) on hole number four and there isn't any available, someone will Bring it to you in a cart. Best coffee ever.

The THPers in the Grandaddy have no idea. None.

When you pull up to a manned gate, and your credential are verified with the clubhouse.

Man I need to start playing at better golf courses!

I guess I have played some pretty nice courses as I have seen 98% of these things at courses. One thing I might add is that when the cart GPS is one that is accurate to the pin instead of the center of the green, that is very impressive to me and something I see only at upscale courses.

I've only been to the one I bullet-pointed. Even TPC Sugarloaf was nothing compared to that.
Up until my first big THP event at Grand Cypress in Orlando, I'd never played anywhere close to a resort course or top-end place. If nothing else, THP has broadened my horizons and opened my eyes to could be.....if I won the lottery.
Until then, I just have to live it one event at a time through my THP events and the kindness of those that drag me along to nice places on occasion.

I actually saw that at Dubsdread in Orlando over Thanksgiving. It was surprising as Dubsdread is not upscale at all.

When you are in...#THeGrandaddy

All other courses are just "okay".

Never been anywhere like most of the places mentioned. Most I have paid is $26 and thought that was high. Guess I'm happy if they have mowed recently. I play a lot and the well is not very deep, if I payed much more I would play much less.

Driving range is grass and there is actually roped off sections to let the new grass grow.

The bathrooms make you consider whether you really need to go so you don't mess anything up

The range balls have dimples (the balls at Andrews AFB and a few other courses in the area are pretty old and a few other courses in the area).

Bag drop, cart crew and staff go above and beyond.

We need to get you to Bulle Rock this year. You'll see a lot of these things.

When the caddies pick up the divots and put them in a garbage can on the back of the cart.

Course condition is the number one indicator, when I'm walking with a good caddie on an immaculate course, all that other stuff doesn't matter. Some things that haven't been mentioned, a massage is available at the practice range, carts with heated seats, practice putting holes cut into the back of the tee boxes on par 3 holes, carts circulating with ice towels in the desert courses.

ill add to this...
your name is on the locker when you arrive in the locker room

A sit down lunch is provided at the turn by a personal chef

there are yatch slips as well as a parking lot

your shoes are cleaned at the close of the round and place in your cat

I hope that didn't hurt the cat :clapp:

When everyone has their shirt tucked in and no one is wearing cargo shorts

Also a fun one: your car is brought around with clubs already loaded in and cleaned for you.

Well that or they really want you to leave haha

  • There is a cart waiting for you at the parking lot to take you and your bags to the clubhouse.
  • They drop you off so you can get dressed, in a dressing room that has lockers with the name of your group on it.
  • In the meantime, they clean your clubs.
  • When you get outside, your cart containing your clean clubs is ready for you, including wet and dry towels and plenty of drinks.
  • You drive to the driving range where pyramids of quality balls are waiting for you.
  • You then drive to the starters cabin at the first tee. While the starter talks to you and explains some things about the course and local rules, a kid wipes your clubs one more time to remove any driving range dirt.
  • Starter asks what kind of sandwich you'd like at the turn, so they can make sure it's ready for you when you get there, and off you go.
  • After the round they take your clubs to clean them once again. If you want, they can take your shoes to clean them as well.
  • In the locker room, there are plenty of soft towels and robes. There are personal shower cabins, a pool and a jacuzzi.
  • Once you're ready to go home, they drive you back to your car.

Spain, last April. Was feeling like a tour pro. My tee shot at 1 reminded me I wasn't one.

Dayummmmmmmm! :bulgy-eyes:

I wouldn't know how to act on golf courses that nice :arrogant:. I'm use to the ones that yell out, "git ya arse going you old fool" :D

When carts are not permitted on the course.

reading this again , and being honest here . I never feel like i fit in when I go to a high class golf course . I feel so uncomfortable .. Like I don't belong or i'm just not in the same league or class . That is the difference I feel.

I grew up in a very bad area , and my parents did everything they could to raise me right under the circumstances . The local crap muni was my only chance to learn golf . That is what I'm used too , and the type of courses I will always love. The people make me feel so comfortable at these type of courses .. May not be Augusta National's , but I have more fun playing these than a $$$$ course .. IMHO

If they put my shoes in a cat I'm gonna be pissed.

My answer: comport stations

It's actually very upscale to have your shoes stored in a cat. It's a unique perk that only Freddieism quality courses can provide :alien:

I was most impressed that the staff knew my name as a guest, and by staff I mean everyone from the kid who took my clubs out of our car, to the people in the pro shop, to the pro, the folks in the snack shack, and the guy in the locker room who polished my shoes while I showered up. I thought my uncle had called ahead to his club, but it was all on the fly. Quite impressive.

When you actually see marshals on the course, and the pace of play is reasonable.

Painted cups.

When the caddies pick up the divots and put them in a garbage can on the back of the cart.

That still is the part that gets me about the Hideaway. They really make sure the course is in perfect condition for every golfer.

I'll find myself watching PGA events and seeing debris from divots, etc., in the fairway. It makes me smile that you would NEVER see that at the Hideaway. Ever.

Hmmmmmmmmm. Not a bad idea for sodding ya yard either :thumb:
