At the start of last season I had two eagles in my first two rounds of the year. That was fun.
Sadly, there weren't many through the rest of the season though.

hole must suit your eye lol congrats on the chip in eagle. I love chippin in.

Getting to the creek is sometimes good but the circled tree can be a problem from many different spots on this hole because it is so tall and big

Golf is the worst. You're like oh dang I am going to have a year and then golf is like think again?

3 shots stand out to me from this year:

1. At the Goat Cup in my singles match against @DB_CG on hole 9 I found myself in a fairway bunker 125 yards out. Proceeded to hit it to 4 feet.
2. Drove the green on number 9 at Streamsong Red.
3. Holed out from 49 yards to win a hole in a member-guest tourney.
Sweet! Did you win the hole after stuffing it? How was Streamsong btw?

158-yard par three, pin VERY close to the front of the green. Got it to about 157, easy bird.
Congrats, making a 2 on a 3 is one of the best feelings in golf. I feel like a 2 on a 3 is tough to do.

Edit: realized you were asking about the Goat Cup hole and am fixing my reply lol.

Yes I was 1 down at the moment. Hit that shot and DB conceded the par to get us all square. Won 10 to go 1 up but I couldn’t hold him off so wound up losing 3&2. @DB_CG is a beast and I was pleased to just put up a fight as long as I did.

Streamsong rules. The Red course is one of my favorite courses I’ve ever played. Definitely intend to go back.

Does not happen often for me (bogey golfer) but happy when it does.

One clearly stands out. I was at a hotel/resort course on vacation, and playing with both of my sons. It had been an up and down round, and I was beginning to lose my tee game, growing increasingly frustrated. On the 11th hole, a par 4, I horribly duffed a 4w tee shot, practically a toe-shank. I was under a clump of trees with a blind shot just to try to get back into play. I badly pulled a hybrid left for my second shot, ending up in the left rough and still about 90-95 yards out. I then hit a 3/4 gap wedge that was a slam dunk -- a direct hole-out straight into the cup, no bounces.

It was not only easily my best shot of the year, it righted the ship mentally for the rest of the round. I was better able to relax and forget bad shots, which resulted in quite a few excellent shots the rest of the way in.

slam dunks are awesome!! congrats on that! I love when I can be relaxed out there and the game comes together. What resort was it?

Sounds like a back and forth battle!

1. I'm playing a late nine with my son and we are both playing pretty well. He starts talking a little smack. On the 6th hole (a par 4) he hits his approach shot to about 4 feet and really starts to chirp. I then hit my approach to about 6 inches. Got he old "You suck" out of him.

2 shots stand out to me this year.

During our March AZTHP event, after totally skying a 25* hybrid off the tee on the 200 yard par 3 17th, I holed out a 55yd pitch shot to birdie the hole. Also ended up winning that event for my first, and only, AZTHP win.

The 2nd memorable shot was the 9th hole approach shot while playing Clear Creek Tahoe. My drive put me about 40 yrds directly behind that circled tree in the pic, and left me with 165 to the pin.

I'm not a shot shaper by any means, but I told my host I'm going to cut this 6 iron around that tree and see what happens. It landed on the left half of the green and the cut spin, along with the green contour, moved the ball towards the pin setting up the birdie putt, which I managed to make.

While an eagle on a par-5 isn't a rarity, the 2nd shot I pulled off on a recent eagle was a doozy. I had pushed my drive into the right rough and didn't have a particularly good lie - it was a slightly hanging lie from 248-yards and sitting just a bit down in thickish Bermuda rough. I choked up on a 3w, thinking I could hit a low shot to maybe 20 yards short of the green so I could chip up and down for birdie. The ball came out of the rough surprisingly easy with a medium trajectory, landed just short of the front fringe, and released back to about 8' from the pin.

I don't think I could have done that well again with a bucket of balls.

Quality of shot - a 270ish yd 3wd to tap in range on a par 5. Eagle

Competition - I rolled some really good putts in during a 4 hole birdie run that helped me win a league event and break 70 for the first time.

Difficulty - I was playing well in an event and pushed a drive out right in the desert. I picked the ball clean and landed on the green for a birdie putt which I ultimately made. Hitting out of the desert is never fun but picking it clean was fun.

THP Experience - Morgan Cup my second shot of the event. Playing shamble, @Mayor McCheese and I are in a fairway bunker on hole 1. I picked it clean and put it to about 8 ft. Waited for the other team to get on green and ultimately concede my birdie putt. No nerves.

I can't recall one specifically but my 3W has been special in a few spots this year. @Slowmo and @Greg Kulbick have had front row seats to some pretty ridiculous shots with that club.

I have a better overall moment or two (like chipping in 3 times in one round at Prestwick), but as far as my best single shot of 2025...

Long par 4 where I hit my tee shot so far out on the toe that I almost missed it. The ball went short and right, down a hill and into some deep rough. I had 190 yards left to the green, but the ball was in some hairy rough, the shot was up hill, and I couldn't see the green.

I hit a completely pure 5 iron and would have been happy just being somewhere near the green...then my playing partner started yelling about something. Turns out, not only did I get the ball to the green, but my shot also jarred the pin and rolled about 8 feet away from the hole.

I missed the birdie putt, let's not be ridiculous.

None of the above. Just an absolutely nuked 4 wood to get us home in 2 on a par 5 in a scramble.
