Dunking it for birdie at Renditions with THPers after getting stuck behind a tree off the tee and then having to hit to the left of the green in the rough. Wild birdie.

1. I'm playing a late nine with my son and we are both playing pretty well. He starts talking a little smack. On the 6th hole (a par 4) he hits his approach shot to about 4 feet and really starts to chirp. I then hit my approach to about 6 inches. Got he old "You suck" out of him.
wow is that an answer!! the old reversal!

2 shots stand out to me this year.

During our March AZTHP event, after totally skying a 25* hybrid off the tee on the 200 yard par 3 17th, I holed out a 55yd pitch shot to birdie the hole. Also ended up winning that event for my first, and only, AZTHP win.

The 2nd memorable shot was the 9th hole approach shot while playing Clear Creek Tahoe. My drive put me about 40 yrds directly behind that circled tree in the pic, and left me with 165 to the pin.

I'm not a shot shaper by any means, but I told my host I'm going to cut this 6 iron around that tree and see what happens. It landed on the left half of the green and the cut spin, along with the green contour, moved the ball towards the pin setting up the birdie putt, which I managed to make.

great stories and great shot! nice course too! Was every hole that tight?

I played a par 3 a few weeks ago. It was 190 into a really stiff wind. The green was elevated with a pretty steep slope. First guy hits a hybrid pretty high and you could see the wing just stop the ball and it was way short. Next guy switched from his hybrid to his 3w. It seemed like he hit it good and it was right at the flag and the wind got that one too and landed at the bottom of the slope but couldn’t make it the hill and rolled back down. I decided to use my 4w. I knew I couldn’t land it on the green and have it stay on. The left side of the green had a didn’t have as steep a slope to get up. There was a sand trap a little left. I decide not to use a tee and I hit a nice low 3/4 fade. Lands just short of the hill and rolls up the hill on to the green. I lost sight of it after that. Get to the green and I had myself a little 5 footer for birdie which I made.

The most epic one was on hole 9 in Nebraska at GrayBull.

A little walk off 100 yard spinner into the cup with THPers watching. That was cool as hell.

Thanks.

That pic probably makes it look a bit tighter than than it actually was. Most of the course was your typical CC and not all that punishing. Plenty of room for errors, mostly.

I can't recall one specifically but my 3W has been special in a few spots this year. @Slowmo and @Greg Kulbick have had front row seats to some pretty ridiculous shots with that club.
Splitting a couple trees and ending up right at the front of the green... it was majestic.

Drained a 60 footer for birdie on 17 to win a 2v2 match against my buddies. Crazy celebration too

great work! when you lost sight of it did you think it could be in the hole?

you holed out, walk off style, with people watching?!

Chip in after a punch out? That is impressive

None of the above. Just an absolutely nuked 4 wood to get us home in 2 on a par 5 in a scramble.
Nice, did you make the putt?!

I have a better overall moment or two (like chipping in 3 times in one round at Prestwick), but as far as my best single shot of 2025...

Long par 4 where I hit my tee shot so far out on the toe that I almost missed it. The ball went short and right, down a hill and into some deep rough. I had 190 yards left to the green, but the ball was in some hairy rough, the shot was up hill, and I couldn't see the green.

I hit a completely pure 5 iron and would have been happy just being somewhere near the green...then my playing partner started yelling about something. Turns out, not only did I get the ball to the green, but my shot also jarred the pin and rolled about 8 feet away from the hole.

I missed the birdie putt, let's not be ridiculous.
Chipped in 3 times in a round is memorable to say the least! lol the story would be too good if you made the birdie eh? Good 5i though!

they confirmed! lol what 3w are you gaming?

Quality of shot - a 270ish yd 3wd to tap in range on a par 5. Eagle

Competition - I rolled some really good putts in during a 4 hole birdie run that helped me win a league event and break 70 for the first time.

Difficulty - I was playing well in an event and pushed a drive out right in the desert. I picked the ball clean and landed on the green for a birdie putt which I ultimately made. Hitting out of the desert is never fun but picking it clean was fun.

THP Experience - Morgan Cup my second shot of the event. Playing shamble, @Mayor McCheese and I are in a fairway bunker on hole 1. I picked it clean and put it to about 8 ft. Waited for the other team to get on green and ultimately concede my birdie putt. No nerves.
Beautiful! Congrats on breaking 70 in competition! What were you thinking after the 4th in a row?

While an eagle on a par-5 isn't a rarity, the 2nd shot I pulled off on a recent eagle was a doozy. I had pushed my drive into the right rough and didn't have a particularly good lie - it was a slightly hanging lie from 248-yards and sitting just a bit down in thickish Bermuda rough. I choked up on a 3w, thinking I could hit a low shot to maybe 20 yards short of the green so I could chip up and down for birdie. The ball came out of the rough surprisingly easy with a medium trajectory, landed just short of the front fringe, and released back to about 8' from the pin.

I don't think I could have done that well again with a bucket of balls.
Nice! What 3w are you gaming?

Love a good rope draw recovery shot! Did you make the putt??!
I did not but I made a par when I was expecting bogey or worse. I've struggled to hit a draw with that club since lol. I have no probably drawing a mid to short iron but the long irons I tend to push.

the face sends it and the path bends it!

Elyte 3W with a LIN-Q White
good review btw, saw it in your sig block. "The club inspires confidence knowing even the bad swings will be rewarded."

Nice shot!

I've played "Renditions" - can't say I see what the fuss is about. Drive 2 and 1/2 hours to an overpriced, upscale muni.

Golf between Columbia and Richmond makes no sense to me. Way too many people with money down there. Totally skews the golfing economy.

Ultimately, you end up paying $200 for a goat track experience.
