Nice shot!

I've played "Renditions" - can't say I see what the fuss is about. Drive 2 and 1/2 hours to an overpriced, upscale muni.

Golf between Columbia and Richmond makes no sense to me. Way too many people with money down there. Totally skews the golfing economy.

Ultimately, you end up paying $200 for a goat track experience.
I can’t speak for Nova but Richmond courses aren’t bad. Weekends days I can play 18 for 40-70 bucks at lot of places. Top end is 80-90. Weekends are more but not any worse than other places. I’m certainly not paying 200 for a goat track. 150 I can play one of the nicest public courses in VA on the weekend. There’s not even a place that charges 200 here

I am surprised no one has a hole in one this year on THP!

People really remember the recovery shots! the poll has it tied for first.

Still deadlocked in the polls

great work! when you lost sight of it did you think it could be in the hole?
No because of the way it was elevated and sloped you couldn’t tell where the ball ended from the tee box. I never expected the ball would roll right and down.

Probably my 6 iron to 5-feet on the #14th hole at Victoria National. Just because of what an iconic hole that is
Nice! How was the course? Did you make the putt?!

I think it has to be this since it was actually caught on camera. Not seen is the bickering between @JB and I for about 3 minutes prior.
What was the bickering about?!

LMAO the puke and rally almost hole out from a fairway bunker!! Can that be beat?!
so how much did you have to drink the night before? or was is purely the bfast burrito?

Honestly there are many contenders for the title. Had a couple of lip out near hole in 1s, made several eagles this year, hit at least a dozen or more approach shots inside 1-2’, made some bomb putts.

I think my most memorable sequence was being 3 down 3 to play in 1st round of match play and winning the final 3 holes on a combined 10 strokes.

7i - 28’ putt made for birdie
Driver - 8i - 2’ conceded birdie
Mini - 6i - PW - chip - 9’ putt made for par

I will also remember a clutch eagle I made in the city championship that probably helped cement the cup for our team since I later barfed all over myself with a triple on a different hole. The easier way would’ve been to make birdie on that hole and not make the damned triple but it would’ve been less memorable.
How do you like your srixon irons compared to your mizunos? I rock the srixons right now

What was the bickering about?!
This was in alternate shot and we had a string of shots that put us in a bad spot. JB hit one that went long by maybe 3-5 yards, left a difficult shot that I hit and caught the wrong ridge so the ball ended up basically where I putted from. He hits that same putt and the conversation was about how hard to hit it. Well…he didn’t hit it hard enough and it rolled back to where I am putting from in the video. Then I make the putt.

Our alt shot rounds are interesting. We usually play quite well. We don’t apologize, ever. Instead we basically just say stuff like “we’ll show me something or no reason you can’t make that work.” It’s not always that clean but this is a family friendly place. So with the string of shots that got to this moment we were laying into each other pretty good.

And that shot won us the hole.

Playing Arrow Wood with @ChrisATL @con93 and @Surfinguru before the Vokey Experience...short par 4. Took a 6i off the tee that I hooked up a bit but left me 108yds to the pin. Hit a nice wedge that I thought would be close..."I think that went in..." Sure enough. Eagle.

Epic, won't forget that story esp since you won the hole. What was the group you were playing doing?!

Sweet, nothing like holing out for eagle. Just wish I did it on par 3s... lol

Did anyone see it go in or was it blind?

Holed out for birdie from green side bunkers twice this summer. That’s always fun. It’s nice having confidence in your bunker game.

Nice! How was the course? Did you make the putt?!

VN was probably my favorite course i've played. It would be tough to play it every day because it's quite challenging (#14 is maybe the toughest par 4 without a hazard i've ever seen and water is really in play on 15-18). So would i rather play a course like Laval here every day, maybe. But for a fun challenge at a resort type place, it's the best course i've seen.

#14 is a long par 4 (450+ from tips) that meanders uphill. In front of the green is a giant natural pit that is basically worse than a hazard. If you're in it you're like 15ft below the green facing a vertical wall, and in deep rough. I have always said to guys playing it, you are better laying up and playing it as a par 5 if you are not positive you will get it over that pit.

On our second day there i hit a 6 iron from 174 (uphill) to 5 feet.

Did i make the putt? i forget.

Strokes gained approach from there is really good!

Lol. No....cbx2  buuuut this was the day before the experience ;)
How are them Vokeys? I was a Vokey guy for years (15+). Switched to cleveland for a few years and tried the Tmades out this past year.

So your vote in the poll came in to make eagle the most memorable of the year but the scales tipped for recovery shots taking the lead. Interesting! Need more people to post about these recovery shots!

Someone voted HIO! Where is the story?? Photos?

a good drive followed up by a great approach.
sand wedge to a couple feet past the stick and zipped it back into the cup.

one of the things that made it even sweeter is that my son (from the forward tee visible in the pic) drove it to pin high just left of the green, then chipped it close and made the birdie putt. so we were -3 combined on this hole.

Way better than I thought they'd be...I thought they'd be pretty unforgiving compared to the cbx (which yeah, I think the cbx are "easier") but it was just me....I love them. I am comfortable with them now.
