yeah... I saw that at the show JB. People will buy them as well...

They had some nice tour putters at the show, 2 - 3 grand a pop...

I wouldn't call him mad at all. I would however call all the folks who waste their money on his over-hyped crap insane.

really... no different than a handmade TP Mills

for 8000 dollars you could get roughly 15 or so HANDMADES from TP Mills and Bett

crazy!

If they were supposed to be gamers, sure that would be absurd. But let's face it, these are not for the course. They are collector's items. It's a different market. You can't compare them to a typical off-the-rack putter from your local Edwin Watts. That would be like comparing a 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe to a 2008 Toyota Camry. Sure, you might drive it around the block just to see how it feels, but it sure as heck isn't going to be your daily driver. You buy it because you think it's beautiful, because it has sentimental value to you, because it gives you a feeling of exclusivity, and because you hope that it will hold its value if you take care of it. And right now, Scotty Cameron limited putters are doing that.

Besides, didn't you see? The Art of Putting books were marked down from $45 to $20. :D

you are absolutely correct about this being a collectors piece... BUT, take a stroll over to The Cameron Collector or Putter Talk and 8000 is still a massive chunk of change for them... these guys have multiple tour 009 and GSS putters with Cameron & CO stamps that ran them 4 grand each, but 8 grand a garage handmade that isn't tour issued? it's more what you're getting for the 8 grand than the actual price itself

I thought when that little orange light went on he pressed a button on the putter.

i liked the way the guy in the video said "they go for $8000" so nonchalantly like if they were just another $150 putter, lol.... thats just crazy, but yeah, obviously a collectors item...

Its like putting with a Kia.

Oh wow. Very nice and I like all the options but just a bit steep!

$8,000 for a PUTTER?

No thanks, I'd rather buy a car with that much money.

lol

haha ya that money would be put towards a car, not a putter

Scotty Cameron has always been mad... But this is a new level all together :D

There is simply no way any putter...unless it's solid gold & diamond encrusted would ever be "worth" $8,000. Sounds like pure greed to me.

I don't care if a putter was $8,000 with a $7,999 mail in rebate...no way I'm dishing out 8k for a putter.

thats why my opinion of these would be that these are probably more of a collectors item. a lot of people wouldnt pay $8000 for a paper baseball card either, but some do. i recently sold a Lefty Grove autographed baseball for $1200 and some people think $1200 for an old baseball is crazy

Whats funny though is that people will pay it simply because its a Scotty Cameron. So who really is the mad one: Cameron who sets the insane prices or the people who will pay whatever price Cameron sets?

agree. i seriously dont see anyone plopping down 8k for a putter to putt with which wont work any better than a $300 Cameron putter. these have just got to be for the collectors i think. but people can spend their money anyway they want to imo. afterall, its their money, not mine.

its a collectors item for sure... for some he's an icon, if I were going to spend 8 grand I'd invest a series of scotty tour issued putters. That way I could game a few and keep a few on the wall. It's all relative in terms of the money... for some (obviously not me!) 8 grand is not a lot of money

I could see people who have a lot of money to burn buying those putters just because of how exclusive they will be.
Its like those super-rare Cameron headcovers that you see go on Ebay for big money. As with any of the big-name putters, its all about exclusivity and it being a status symbol.
I could think of a lot better things to spend $8,000 on than a putter (not that I would probably ever own another Scotty Cameron putter anyways after the bad experience I had with that Red-X).

yep. some people spend $8000 on a bottle of wine that just turns into pee after you drink it. like DD said, to some people, $8000 is not a lot of $$$

True and those people need to give me some money if they have so much of it to throw around that they can spend $8,000 on a putter.
I dont think I could even wrap my mind around how it would be OK to spend that much money on 1 golf club. I guess though, when you have a lot of money in the bank and you make 6 figures, $8,000 is mere pocketchange.
I'll stick to buying used Mizuno TPMs on Ebay for $50-$100 a piece...

haha... that is funny. we have some family friends who'll head down to casino's with a few friends and throw back a nice meal, wine and gamble and at the end of the night they've spent 10 grand. At least with the putter you have a tangible item.

Yeah, I'd much rather spend $8,000 on a bottle or two of 2001 La Tache Burgundy.
