Just a little bit about me.

I took up golf about 40 years ago. I played two to three times a week for years. I had a little bad luck about 15 years ago shattering my left ankle and injuring my back and both knees. I had to give up golf and almost everything else other than sitting in a chair:angry:. If it sounds like I am a motorcycle rider your right!

Now 15 years later I couldn't take it anymore so I bought some clubs and went to the range; IT WAS UGLY!!! and yet fun. I think it is harder now that it was 40 years ago starting out. Back when I played a lot the driver was one of my favorite clubs - long and straight, now I can't hit it at all? I am getting my Irons to work pretty good but not as consistent as needed. I will get a pro to help me soon because this stuff is fun...

Sorry to unload on you for my first post but fellow players knows what I am experiencing.

Rick

Welcome to THP and back to the game. You got the right idea in my opinion with getting a pro to help. That was my first move when starting to play before I picked up a single club.

Hi Rick,
Very much the same story...little gal did a u-turn in front of me and nothing to do but T-bone her. I went over the top and compound fractured both arms. It was too severe for the Health System I work for and they sent on to specialist. It took me 16 months to work back to decent...shot a 3 over during our Saturday game and walked off 18 and said I was done. Can't really explain why but I took the next 9 years off.
Sorry to use your thread for my therapy :)
I started back a few months ago and I will be 59 in December. My first outing was a smooth 98 and it could have been 108 easy. I had no idea where the club head was and my hands are so jacked I could not keep my grip. Now 4 sets of irons later and mid-sized grips I have 5 rounds in a row in the 70's and a HC of 7.1. Even the 98 was kind of fun but now...maybe the most enjoyable golf of my life. The game is new again.
My advice...just keep your great attitude and don't give up on your game. Improvement will come just as it did the first time you picked up the game but probably faster. You know what you need to do this time to score. Have someone video your swing and you will quickly see what you may not feel.
Best of luck to you Sir!
