any close to vegas strip, or 10 miles away?

Canyon Gate is probably within 10 miles of the strip. West on Sahara. Then there's the classic Las Vegas Country Club that's right off the strip.

Southern Highlands. Closed recently for turf renovations but a great layout and amazing clubhouse.

had the EXTREME pleasure of playing Southern highlands this last week...played it several days in a row...

From a total course perspective, this was a 5 star property (have played a LOT of places) and this is easily a top 5 location for me...

Course condition, was exceptional!!!

one of the only complaints some have had with this course is regarding the bunkers and sand..they are in the middle of replacing Sand in all the bunkers and fortunately I did not get to experience much of the bunkers...

greens were impeccable, not a ball mark on any green, which is saying something since this was a corporate outing, but largely was a caddy issue, as the caddies were fantastic!!!

Our caddy was Chad, who was, after two holes just one of the guys, treated us incredibly well, shared wisdom on shots, knew the course very well...really appreciated the staff on the course as well, Pro Shop was VERY nice, and my rental car was parked between a Bentley, BMW...

The pro was great sharing nuances about the course, and where to put the gas pedal on and where to be careful....hopefully the pics share some of the value!!!!

Oh man, I have been dying to play there. It doesn't help that I live right near the course.

Those pics are incredible. This course is one of the reasons UNLV is able to keep local talent and attract out-of-state talent, as Southern Highlands is their home course. I also see Kevin Na post pics of him practicing there as well.

The Summit

Southern Highlands looks incredible.

The Summit

Which is 5 minutes from where I used to live. Two courses that I might possibly play once in my lifetime, all within a very short distance.

Wish I could make this trip work but the timing is on my wife’s birthday.

I’ve been dying to play Southern Highlands for 2 years and just can never make the timing work.

I live out on the west side of town. Red Rock Country Club is quite nice, plus the 2 TPCs out here. All of which I’ve never played, but I did play the public Arroyo course which is the sister course to RRCC and it was pristine. Arroyo shares facilities and some cart paths with RRCC.

Good to see SH is back and in great shape. I played it last August and it was beat up from some kind of turf outbreak. The layout and clubhouse was awesome tho.

Did you see Mayweathers house? I think it was #14 fairway.

Arroyo is one of the absolute best courses to play for the $$ out there. I’m so glad it’s not on the tourist list because I never run into crowds when I play There.

This is one of my favorite golf pics I’ve ever taken -march 2017 at arroyo.

The caddy was sharing where the "kids" hit from and too...apparently they play with Caddies every now and then...Also Caddy shared that it is the first job interview where they asked his handicap, and you need not apply if you were over a certain handicap...

That would be a HUGE benefit to play at UNLV!!!

Had the pleasure of playing those you listed...Southern Highlands blows them away!!! we could not get over the smell of the pine trees, in the DESERT!!!!! truly screwed with your minds with all the grass, and Pine trees...Made me feel right at home, playing in the hills of the Rockies!!!

yeah, I am not too starstruck ever though, and we didn't even look in the bushes for cash laying around :)...Was way more focused on enjoying the course and fortunately was not playing poorly :)

vegas private clubs

I’m heading to Vegas in a few weeks and will only be able to play 1 course. I was deciding between:

TPC Vegas (relive the THP Bridgestone Event) - $125
Red Rock CC - $175
Vegas CC - $195

Or after reading this thread, should I see if my local pro can get me out on Southern Highlands? If he can, any idea what green fees would be?

Las Vegas Country Club is open to the public or you have a reciprocal arrangement (to pay greens fees) ?

My local club in Ohio is part of www.PrivateClubNetwork.com. Las Vegas CC and RRCC are the only 2 private club options in Vegas through the website.

Vegas CC is practically on the strip...Red Rock is Way up in Summerlin area...about 30 minutes depending upon traffic...

Red Rock is MUCH more exclusive up to date, LVCC is VERY cool from a historical perspective, and ok from a course perspective...

I have always wanted to play Shadow Creek but can't afford to lose enough at the casino.

Great thanks!
Not sure where I got south shore from, I meant Southern Highlands. It sounds like that place might be the best if I can got on?

Definitely. Don't miss it if you have the chance to play it.

If you can get on The Summit, that would be another don't-miss.

You will NOT be disappointed, I have played all that you mentioned, and other private clubs there (Dragon Ridge, Canyon, etc.) and Southern Highlands is second to none...(clearly just my opinion)

Have your pro call the pro there....Usually private clubs can get their members on courses while traveling...
