Lake Tahoe vacation, anyone have experience?

Next August my wife and I are celebrating our ten year anniversary and are leaning toward Lake Tahoe for our vacation. I thought I'd see if anyone has vacationed there and if you have any recommendations on where to stay and what to do? We thought this could be a great combination of relaxation for my wife and plenty of activities (and golf) for me. Plus I'm a huge fan of the mountains and my wife loves the lake so it's great for us.

We are starting to plan and save for it and any recommendations are really appreciated!

Golf at Edgewood is a must! As for lodging I usually stay at Marriots Timber Lodge. It’s in a fantastic location and is close to food, drinks, casinos and activities.
