Any Poker Players Here?

I play in the Eastern Poker Tour which is a Bar poker league its part of a bigger network of leagues all around the country. It's a nightly game at a local Bar or restaurant where you pay for the "Buffett" and the poker is free. There's money for the top 3 each night but you get entry into other tourneys if you win a night.
I played a $40 satellite today and managed to make the top 3 and win a trip to Vegas!!!
I have never stayed downtown but at least they are putting us up at the Golden Nugget.

Anyone else play in one of these leagues? I know they have them all over the country.

That’s a great payout for a 40 buy-in.

Yeah I was actually in for $50. Since I had a $30 off ticket entry only cost $10 and I took the $40 addon which was double my stack of 10k at the break.

I managed to not get it in bad the entire day and all my flips held up!
I love Vegas and I think 1st place in the tourney along with cash is a WSOP Main event seat.

will be interesting to see if WSOP series in Vegas this year goes off as planned. Lot of speculation out there that they will be cancelling it.

I think there is a lot of preparing for what if's. Poker players are care about their health as much as NFL players in the 80's. If they have it the I doubt the attendance is off that much.

I never said attendance would be down, I agree if it is on I’m sure people will still show up. Just saying a lot of top players are starting to think it might be cancelled (which personally I think is a complete overreaction)

We ended up cancelling the next 2 regular poker league nights ( Mondays ) due to the virus. Time to hit some online free poker crap and all the donkeys there just to keep the mind sharp.

Work guys play about once a month. 40$ unlimited buy ins. Can cash out two hours in, or 3 hrs in and whenever you want to call it.

It's a good time with not alot of money on the line.

Lockdown life is boring so I'm looking into online again. Anyone playing on Ignition Poker?

I've played before with mixed results.

I play on ignition and ACR but have moved most of my play to ACR.
Better tourneys and software.

Love this stuff! Are any of these games located in the South West or Socal? Please lmk!

Strange, I don't play poker at all, period, but I love watching the WPT on TV. Poker is so much more than luck of the draw with all the psychology of bluffing, calling, checking and so on. It really is a cerebral game.

I’d like to get back into playing online money games. It’s been years though. What is ACR?

A few of us decided to play Saturday as the course was closed. $50 buy in NL Hold'em with $.50/$1 blinds. A couple bought back in and we played for about 5 hours. Had some fun, might have had a couple too many drinks, and left up $100. Need to do it more often minus the Fireball shots one of the guys likes to buy haha.

I got riiippppedd in AC this past weekend. Started out in NL and 2nd hand I get delt pocket kings. Raise it up to 20 or 25, couple callers, flop comes out 4 5 7 or something. I bet, get raised, call, card is something, we both rip all in, final card a king... MFer called my raise with 6-8 and flopped the straight  240 down the drain.

Gave it a break and went to 3-6 limit but it was just a slow hemorrhage there for a couple hundred more

Not as bad as my buddies that lost 1500 on blackjack but yeah that loss really hurt. There went my acorns for new clubs this year

I played on the commuter train when I was young, a million years ago.
The seats could be flipped to face each other.
We'd take down a cardboard ad (which somebody paid plenty to display) and put it across our laps to play.
It was all coins, no serious stakes. And we'd replce the ad when we got off.

I Learned to play Hold em in 1990. Way before the WSOP was on ESPN. In those days, it was not uncommon to have 6 or 7 Stud players sitting at your Hold em table. There would be 2 or maybe 3 players that knew how to play the game, at a table of 10. It was like stealing candy from babies. Even at the 5/10 tables. ESPN came along and screwed it all up. :poop:

Ouch that's rough. I'm a fairly conservative player and guys like that that would make big calls with junk always give me trouble.

We played 1/2 NL last Wednesday night while doing our golf picks. I bought in for $100 and had about $300-340 on the table plus $100 in my pocket from selling to another player who was rebuying. It's late and I catch Aces and raise about $20, next guy calls and then another guy raises $60. I go all in then and that guy actually folds out of turn. The guy to my left debates and ends up going all in. He matched the $60 and had another $119 which left me about $120 left. He flips Jacks and catches one on the flop to win. That took me from being up about $650 to only about $120.

Yeah, big fan of Texas Hold'em. Use to play at the limit poker at the casinos some, but haven't for a long time. Now just play online poker. Home games with friends is a good idea, though. The WPT Cash games are fun to watch on TV.

Tried online site a couple of weeks ago - ended up winning event they have for 8k, cashed out 95% and tried other events with no luck. Had to cash out in BTC and cost me outrageous fees to do so. So after I used up the last of the $ I have asked them to close my account.

Will stick to live events here in town as we have a great poker room in Scottsdale area.

I gave up online poker many years ago and I was reminded why after these last few weeks.
