Question about urethane golf balls

Is there really a ton of difference nowadays between premium urethane golf balls when it come to spin and stopping power?
I have pretty poor technique and my on course impression is that i can only check up and stop Pro V1s. Last week i tried last generation srixzon z stars and i could not stop them nearly as well.
Part of me thinks that I may have swallowed all the marketing and it has predisposed me to believe one ball is superior to the rest. If that is the case, i want to stop that.
Should i be getting very similar performance from most urethane covered balls in terms of short game control?

Almost all urethane covered balls will spin the same around the green. Off the tee, some companies will claim there is a difference in compression which will affect straightness.

There's nothing wrong with your "in the head" thinking. As serious golfers, we tend to be very supersiticious. If something is working, don't change it
