Not compare to anyone else, but compare your own numbers from a recent fitting and an old fitting. See how maybe you have improved, or revisit the glory days!

From a driver fitting in 2014:
Swing speed 93.6
Ball speed 140.6
Spin 2,666
Carry 229.8
Total 253.8
Launch 14.9
AoA 2.4
Smash 1.50

From a driver fitting in 2017:
Swing speed 103.4
Ball speed 149.8
Spin 2,525
Carry 240.2
Total 268.3
Launch 10.3
AoA -2.3
Smash 1.45

So I'm swinging faster and getting more ball speed, but I'm not launching it high enough (at least with the 2017 driver) and I'm not catching the sweet spot. All in all I like the improvement, just need to find the right part of the face more often!

Anybody have any numbers they would like to compare? Maybe share how you made the improvements, or what you are working on to find the magic again?

That's a huge jump in swing speed!

That is a big jump in swing speed and almost as big of a change in AoA. +2.4 to -2.3 right? Dang near 5 degrees will obviously change the launch angle.

i owe a lot of that to @tadashi70. i'm lucky to play a few times a year with him, and a recurring theme has been to just swing harder and trust it. even as recently as march 2016 my ss was 96.9. when i did my fitting in september 2017 i had a few swings over 105. if i can get that launch up, i think i could add some carry.

Your AoA went from a positive 2 to and negative 2, just that alone could have you hitting it farther now.

Just move that ball further up in your stance and widen the stance a little. Problem solved my friend.

anybody else a data nerd like i am, and have old numbers vs new numbers to see where things have changed?

I really wish I did, I bet if I go through old posts I can find my old numbers. I don't have any recent numbers though. What's funny is the old numbers would have me swinging 20 mph faster than you did, and now we are about the same. Happy for you, sad for me.

Nice increase in numbers CA. I wish I hung onto or recorded my number better.

Yeah, I do it too. lol

Driver fitting in 2015:
Swing speed 104.1
Ball speed 154.4
Spin 2,670
Carry 246.9
Total 261.4
Launch 12.1
AoA 0.6
Smash 1.50

From a driver session in early 2017:
Swing speed 110.7
Ball speed 164.2
Spin 2037
Carry 281.4
Total 307.2
Launch 13.9
AoA 2.1
Smash 1.49

A recent quick driver testing on the same trackman had me back down around 104-106 club speed and mid 150's ball speed. But went back in a week later and was back in the 109-113 club speed and 165 ball speed range. Just not consistent right now with my swing. Some days I can relax and free swing the club and bomb drives, some days every muscle tenses up like crazy and I'm short again. Such is golf. lol

Hitting down costs yardage unless you mean he could gain a bunch getting back to +2

Good thread makes me want to get a fitting

Yes, that's what I mean. He was talking in the OP about changes from old to new.

<Raises hand>

Here are numbers from Trackman at the Club Champion location around here, there are just one shot numbers and not averages.

From driver fitting in August 2014:
Club head speed 97.9 mph
Ball speed 149 mph
Launch angle 14.2 degrees
AoA 3.3 degrees
Spin rate 2130 rpm
Carry distance 251.6 yards
Total distance 277.5 yards

From driver fitting in December 2017:
Club head speed 103.9 mph
Ball speed 158 mph
Launch angle 14.3 degrees
AoA 4.9 degrees
Spin rate 1910 rpm
Carry distance 272.4 yards
Total distance 299 yards

The difference between the 2 sets of numbers are likely due to a combination of starting lessons shortly after the first fitting as well as joining a gym at the start of this year.

I need to go back and look, but if going from say 2103 to 2017 I’m somewhere around:
Swing speed: from low 90’s to high 90’s/low100’s
Carry distance from: 210 or so to 230 or so

All the others I can’t even guess. All I know is after fixing my swing I gained swing speed and carry distance.

SS up 10mph but ball speed up 9mph. Wonder what's going on there. It looks like you have some untapped potential for even bigger gains.

Thanks! The weird part is that I take lessons indoors and hit balls on a GC2 launch monitor, and when I hit balls during my lessons I can't sniff 158 mph ball speed. I'm usually in the 150-155 mph range. The shot I listed above is with my gamer driver so it's the same I hit back in 2014. It made me wonder about how Trackman measures ball speed indoors vs GC2, but that's another discussion entirely.

I don't have them all in front of me, but from what averages I can recall...

Club Speed - 109
Ball Speed - 158
Launch - 10.1
Spin - 2950

Current

Club Speed - 110

At the UST Event I was a really bad flipper. I still release a little early but it’s not such an obvious flip on video now. But with the right equipment it’s been more manageable.

With the wrong equipment I can easily reach peak heights of 50+ yards.

You guys all found the fountain of youth on THP? Wow! impressive swing speed gains!
