A big consideration is the material the head is made from. I have bent some cast irons that were made of carbon steel with no issues, but would not attempt more than a couple of degrees with a more brittle makeup.

I really need a bending machine. I bent my Wishons back in ~2005 and I want to check them to see where they're at and tweak them, but I do not have my machine anymore.

I would do it. If I was sure that is what my specs were and I loved the irons. Bring them to either a reputable place or send them to the company

Cast clubs are bent all the time for custom orders. Ping built quite an iron empire doing just that. Now, I might be a little more leery due to the age of the OP’s irons.

Quality assurance has nothing to do with your comparison. With aviation, there are lives dependent on a potential failure - not even remotely an apples to apples comparison. The make-up (steel/alloy properties) of the casted part will play a much larger role in determining whether a part can be “modified” than the actual method of manufacturing (say casting versus forging).

PING was my number 1 thought as well. This is literally what the company became known for.

When I bought 962's years ago, I ordered them upright. No problems from Titleist. Just go to someone who knows what they are doing.
