Club Cleaning - Does Your Course Clean Them After The 18th

My club does if you store your clubs there, flat fee for the season. As soon as you pull up to pro shop someone will grab the clubs off the cart and deal with them.

Yes, on the weekends during the season (march-october), by the 18th green, private course.

My course has "red shirts" that do this. They will load up your cart, put half wet towels on the cart, and clean up your clubs unless you ask them not to after the round. They stay at the course until the last player has led to the course whether it's range, short game area or course play

Lots of the courses here do, a few even have a person that comes and cleans them while you're parked coming to 18 green. It doesn't bother me but I clean my after every shot so it's not necessary. Half the guys I play with like it, half of them grab their clubs and run so they don't have to tip.

Nope. Only courses I've ever played that do this are at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Scotland Run in NJ, and Chambers Bay.

Private courses and higher end daily fee courses around here will offer this. None of the muni courses I regularly play do though. I usually do it myself so it is not a big deal, but I don't mind when it is an option and tipping a guy a few bucks is no big deal.

Nope, nothing like that around here. I've only been to a few courses where that's the case, actually.

My home Casino Resort course does this.

The cart kids take your bag from the curb and load you into a cart while you're paying in the clubhouse. Bottles of water in an iced cooler on the cart and half wet towels over the side. Off you go.

When you return after #18, they'll wipe down the clubs, put the covers back on and haul them to the curb for pick up when you get done on #19.

Nobody has indicated how much they tip for this?

I usually give $2 when they load me up on the way in. At least $5 when cleaning them, maybe $10 if they've been especially friendly or helpful(can't find my phone or the cart is especially messy). I've even left a $20 if playing with 2 or 3 others to make me look like a big shot or them look like cheapskates!:act-up:

No sir. Only one course I have ever played offered it (Prestwick).

Its just not an option up here. Usually the only staff is a greenskeeper, a cart girl, and one clubhouse attendant. Less labor = more straight profit for the courses.

Mine does and I always tip the older retired gentleman $10 to $20. They have him doing everything, he is the starter/picks the range/and cleans and maintains the carts. A real great old guy that never gets appreciated

one day I over heard the pro yelling at this gentleman for not cleaning one of the memBers clubs to his liking. So after the round I took my bag right in the shop and put it right in front of the pro to clean them. I told him " you work for me pal, wash my clubs correctly" .. He did and I never once heard him yell at that older gentleman.

I don't remember any of the courses I have played here in the UK doing this but I tend to keep my clubs clean anyway so it wouldn't really be needed

On holiday in Jamaica, the course I played at cleaned them but they were rentals and the caddy kept them almost spotless during the round anyway. They did clean your shoes after the round while you freshened up and I think for people who had brought their own clubs, they would clean them too as I did see a couple bags of clubs that were obviously not rentals from the course

They've tried before, but it's rare. I normally tell them don't worry about it. They'll show up in the parking lot and attack as you try to put your clubs in the car.

Yes, the cart guys are there with towel in hand and clean them with a smile in their face. They except tips if guys will tip but clean the clubs either way.

It happens at a few courses around me. They never tend to do a remarkable job. I usually give them 2 bucks.

At my home course (a semi-private club) they do by the cart return/bag drop area. Nice service to have, though most recently I tend to carry a wet towel and clean each club after each use and so I have been telling them not to bother the last few weeks. Usually tip 6 bucks (three for each bag on the cart). Not many courses around here do unless they are private clubs or very high end daily fee courses.

Nope, and I have never played a course that did this.

I can't afford to play at those clubs.

Only been to one course in this area that does it. I'm not sure I'd want someone else noticing how much mud and dirt I get on my clubs.

The only courses I have found to provide club cleaning are some of the private tracks and it's rare I play any of those.

One of the courses I used to play consistantly always had someone waiting at the 18th green to clean our clubs while we were on the 18th putting green. Haven't seen one at any of my other main courses in quite a while.

Only the Country Clubs around my area offer this. There are a few (Nemacolin, Stonewall) that clean clubs after the round, but almost no chance if you're paying under $80 to play.

Only time I usually see this is when playing resort courses. Typically equates to some guy half ass wiping a dirty rag on my clubs for about 30 seconds & then looking at me for a tip. Those guys get a "thanks", but if the guy really cleans them, I have no problem giving him $5.

Nope, only been to 3 or 4 courses that do this

My "regular" course does not.

I play most of my golf on Maryland's eastern shore. During the season, many of the courses offer the club cleaning, others don't. My buds and I play most times on a course affiliated with a Hyatt resort because they have great deals for the locals and club cleaning is always offered. (BTW, no carts are allowed in the parking lot). Most times the individuals cleaning the clubs are young students or older retirees. In each case they are just trying to supplement their financial needs. So what;s the big deal about giving them a few dollars to help them out. In my opinion, this is especially true regarding the youngsters. I think anytime a youngster is trying to make an honest dollar they should get our support.
