I thought it was very interesting to hear about non-tour pros actually needing more spin instead of less.

I do find that most of the time I am looking to get my ball to roll versus stop on a dime, except when I am chipping. I ordered a dozen of the Snell Red to compare these to my Chrome Soft w/truvis. I will be interested to see how that plays out.

i would love to see you take the black and the red and do dean's 100y test, then take someone who has the opposite spin needs from you and do the same test and see which ball comes out on top. since dean says the black and red perform the same off the tee, it sounds like the decision of red or black can really be done with that 100y and in test.

Great info. I absolutely love Snell Balls. They are definitely my go to considering price point and in my opinion comparable performance to the bigger name manufacturers.

Been playing the Red instead of the black and really love the performance so much so that I prefer it to the black, the old black not the new softer core new black which I haven't tried yet.

I played both the black and red in my last round, switching it up hole to hole. I think I prefer the black overall, but its not like I found anything wrong with the red. Both very playable.

Im new to the forum. Ive come back to the game after a 10 year back surgery and rehab hiatus. Ive got some budget clubs for now but plan on upgrading to a fitted set soon. I played the Snell Red today for the first time and wow! Spun this 9 iron 8 feet on a par 3. Loved the feel and will be sticking with it full time.

I have played both balls and like what I have seen. I think I like the black better because of the feel. The only thing that bugs me about the red is that the cover makes it look like a cheap surlyn ball. I don't know if anyone else has noticed that. It performs fine but just looks different.

I, too, have tried both (samples of each given to me by a golfing partner). Both are excellent balls for what they are supposed to do. I found the Red lower launching and just fell in love with the feel of the Black. Though the Red spins more I found the Black to spin more than enough for my game.

I really still am enjoying the MTB Black. Great feel, good spin around the greens and low spin off the tee. Just a solid all around performer with no sacrifice that I have seen.

The Black is still my ball of choice, for the reasons you outlined - I get great results around the green. I prefer the feel of it on the putter. And at the price point it can't be beat.

Now that I know more, I'd like to get a sleeve of Red again to see the difference. I think I bought the test pack WAY too early in my golfing career lol. It'd be fun to revisit that test I did in the spring!

couldn't agree more. i have tried a few other similar balls at about twice the price, and none has kicked out the mtb based solely on performance (disregarding the price differential). it's a ball i'm very familiar with and leaves me wanting for nothing.

Played my 1st round with the MTB Black on Saturday and really liked it. Thought it played pretty comparably to the AVX and at 2/3 the price I know which one I will likely play going forward.
