They were awful. But it seemed like Fox's mics were trained upon them a bit much at the same time. The actual audio just seemed so much more pronounced.

When I attended the US Open at Chambers Bay. There was a ton of hecklers think on the first tee which I was there for 30 minutes. 6 people were escorted off. I just don't get it why ruin other people's enjoyment to bother a player you dislike.

Its New York, they have always been loud and boisterous at majors. Bethpage started the trend. And now we have sensitive player facing loud fans, there is going to be complaining.

Its very simple, if you yell anything at all positive or negative you get kicked out. These are not golf fans, they are just look at me idiots.

Maybe it was just me, but I completely tuned out almost the entire broadcast. Joe Buck's best call is golf (not a fan), but I can't say I heard anything too bad. I did see a lot of people commenting on it, though, so it must've been bad.

It's pretty simple: institute a rule where yelling out of golf character phrases is banned and empower the volunteers/workers to get security to kindly escort those "fans" to the parking lot.

Its been bad for too long now. I watch the European Tour every now and then, and just wish the fans who attend those are the ones we get over here in the States. PGA tour needs to do something about it.

Well said Dan. It bothers me hearing it on TV so I can't imagine being there and dealing with the BS in person. Most of these people who are yelling these idiotic comments are probably not even golfers because real golfers respect the game and what it stands for.

just curious how any of these jackasses would react if they had to perform their job in front a crowd of people and took continual heckling for their performance? whether it be aimed at them personally, or just disruptive in general.

someone else mentioned ejecting fans for this kind of behavior. I agree with that and it should be at the discretion of the player if he/she is offended by something a fan does.

Let me start by saying I watched 0% of the US Open over the weekend and watch maybe 0.1% of the golf season on tv. I have heard the shouting in the past while I was watching a broadcast. It's annoying. I think a lot of it, like has been said a few times, is just "Joe" wanting to see if he can hear himself on the broadcast when he gets home and is reviewing it on his VCR. Alcohol has some to do with it and I'm not sure how you can fix that. The one tournament I went to about 8 years ago, didn't start selling beer until noon on Sunday. Maybe they need to institute a rule that alcohol doesn't get sold until noon. Maybe that's already a rule. I realize that the pace most of the PGA play that still leaves 6+ hours that alcohol can be consumed but it might cut down on the amount of people that are blitzed by 11 am.

Anyhow, every one wants to throw these people out of the tournament, which I'm not opposed to. But what happens when they get kicked out and then file a lawsuit (or just cry to the newspapers or TMZ or whoever will listen) saying their First Amendment rights were violated? Then people are going to get worse about it, just to get kicked out, so they can file a lawsuit and have their names in the paper to get their 15 minutes of fame.

I say we allow a firing squad and if you get pointed out for yelling anything more than "You're the best" you get taken to the middle of the fairway and shot. Let the bodies pile up and people will get the hint. But then again if the bodies are just piled up, USGA would have to change the rule book to allow for a free drop if you get too close to the pile. Or could that be lumped into the immovable object rule? Of course I'm only kidding about the firing squad.

I'm tired of the yelling after every drive, etc. The Open did seem to have too much volume on the mics...I mean they had to drop the sound on what seemed like almost every shot, either due to a fan or player cursing. Maybe they need to back off with the mics a bit...that said, I'm getting really burned out on all the "GET IN THE HOLE" and "BABA BOOEY" and so on.

I dont know....It doesnt really bother me that bad when they yell. I could see that people attending the U.S. Open would find it annoying.

I don't like it at any tournament and wish they would eject patrons for acting that way.

^^ This. I call it the jackass factor. I really think it takes away from the professionalism of the game and brings the event to a lower class, so to speak.

I did also hear the "chubby" remark that was made to Reed. The guy is a major champion and doesn't deserve that. In fact, no one should have to deal with that.
