I almost titled the thread that but thought better of it. Or maybe chickened out.

He finished a lot higher than I remember seeing from a "stinger"
 
Yeah I couldn't detect anything in the swing that screamed stinger.
 
What was his reason for the double gloves? Rain?
 
I'm thinking miss-hit,, surprise stinger. Swing certainly did not look like he was trying that shot.

Great players can create shots and Phil is a great player. The low Hand’s through impact created that gem. The loud thwack at impact was the sound of solid.

He went out very early Thursday, and the weather wasn't great - chilly windy and wet. It died down a lot around lunchtime and the sun came out, and the mornings drizzle (not proper rain) did nothing to soften the fairways.

We've seen lots of 400+ yard drives thanks to the run out they're getting - apparently Carnoustie is running even faster at the moment. :bulgy-eyes:
