I just switched from Steelhead irons to Apex cf-16's, and I'm very happy with my new clubs, but have one problem. When I bought the Steelheads, I bought the matching 3 & 4 hybrids. They are long, and go straight. But when matched with the Apex 5-GW, I now have too big a gap between my 4H and 5i. I could choke down on the 4H I guess, but don't trust this consistency wise. After playing 4 rounds, I brought the irons to a very good local fitter as the irons were stock black dot from CPO. Turns out they need to be flattened a bit. I mentioned the issue with the 4H and 5i, and he had me hit both. He suggested delofting each club 2*. We tried it with the 5, and I picked up 1/2 club (6-7 yds) which narrowed my gap nicely. I told him to go ahead and deloft the rest of the set. Now that I'm home and had time to think about it, I'm worried about maybe losing too much of the bounce on them by delofting each club 2* and it will affect their playability....Anybody out there know more about this then me?
