What do you call THPers in person?

Actually, I am not... #sadface
Oops..liked by accident on Tappy.

However; you, Dean and I are #getinvmanshead approved. Need another round!

It's often hard to explain how a THP event goes to those who haven't attended.

But once you attend one, you just get it. You really do.

Go to an event. It will change a lot for you. It's a community, not a forum.
It's simple. Its awesome.

And I seriously doubt there are many gatherings at this point where at least a few people don't already know each other. So the group gathered and laughing is probably a great place to start for a newcomer.

I am horrible with names....I still vote for name tags at events. I seem to remember it's a mix of forum and real names.

Nick names start flying all over the place when you get to a THP event

Most random meeting ever?

Me and Freddie walking up to some random hotel in Atlanta with the door open with a Canadian and an Ohioian just sitting there and then just chatting like old friends.

I'll say whatever I can remember. I prefer first names, but sometimes it's hard to remember.

Leishman will always be Leishman and Rallo will be Rallo

And drinking my beer.

Do you guys wear name tags with forum name and real name under it? or do you say your going to wear a certain outfit or give a secret sign that you are waiting for the others ?

just curious . How do you guys do it ? Do you mention to meet in the pro shop or on the range and just go from there? Does someone speak up and say "I'm a online golfer , anyone else here on the range online as well"?

This is an interesting topic

Meet and greets, share rental cars, all kinds if ways to meet a THP'er at an event. No need for pics or worry about a random showing up. Go into an event with a mindset of introducing yourself to others instead of waiting for them to come to you. Getting to put names with faces is awesome and so many friendships forged or strengthened at an event.

I introduce myself by forum name and real name...several Eric's or Erik's on the site so I usually just go by emart to keep it simple and a name I have been called for a long time.

At #staffproto I introduced myself as Dave, aka Rusty Casino. They just called me "the Canadian " the rest of the event.

I guess it is a form of meeting new people with common interests. I guess either one would be comfortable doing this or not. Just up to the individual. Really enjoy reading threads like this

New people.....not really cause you interact with them on line. Sure there will be some that are new to THP, but it's not like your going in blind.

For the most part, for me, I never feel like I'm just meeting people. Rarher, I'm putting a face with a screen name. Hard for people to understand but like most have said, it just works. And it's easy.

That's a good way of looking at it. Through time I guess we get to know a little about the people behind the screen name.

For the most part I call people by their first names. For me, it doesn't matter ... "Deuce" has been a nickname of mine for as long as I can remember, so when people call me that I answer to it pretty readily. I've also been called much much worse, so there are probably a few other names I'd answer to. :silly:

As others have said, when I a meeting a THP'er for the first time at an event, I'll introduce myself by my first name, and then add that I'm CAABeat on the forum. Most people at events call everyone by their real names unless the thread name is similar or easy. Spivey is one that comes to mind that I hear called by his forum name a lot a events. But after this year, he's can also be called Champ!!
